Thanskgiving at Disney

We're planning a trip to Disney for Thanksgiving. We're renting points to stay at DVC and doing the QS dining plan.

I'm non-traditional enough to be away from the extended family, but still traditional enough to feel guilty if my family is eating burgers & fries on that day.

so - what are your suggestions on where/what we should do? I considered Brown Derby or Hollywood & Vine, Liberty Tree ... but would love to hear from folks who have done this already. DS will be 9 and turkey is not his favorite. We're OK with buffet or table service.

Also - how far out do I need to be making a reservation? Now?

I'll be there for Thanksgiving week too. I'm still trying to decide where to eat that night.

I'll be there at Thanksgiving this year, also. I was there for Thanksgiving in 2010, and we have a non-traditional Holiday meal at Teppan Edo. It was terrific! We had a group of 8, so we had our own table. Even though it was anything but a regular American Thanksgiving meal, it still seemed very homey and warm. It was my favorite Thanksgiving meal ever.

I am trying to decide this year's location. Right now, the places that I'm considering are: Hoop de Doo Review (but I heard rumors that it will most likely be refurbed during our trip,) Tokyo Dining, Boma, or Kouzzina. I am from the South, where the yearly Thanksgiving dinner for others is like my mom's weekly Sunday lunch spread.

If you are looking for something more traditional, I have heard that Artist Point and Liberty Tree Tavern are great choices. Friends of ours went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse and had a spectacular traditional meal last Thanksgiving. If you want to stick with your QS credits, I hear that POP Century does a very good Holiday meal, too.

Our 180 day window for making ADRs will open toward the end of May.

We go to Ohana. It is family oriented even if you don't have turkey.

We actually had a very tasty, traditional Thanksgiving meal at CRT in 2009. Turkey, mashed potatoes, veggies, etc...and we don't normally care for the food at CRT, but the Thanksgiving offerings were yummy! And, in a fantastic setting.

Ohana serves the same menu they always do? I'd like to do something special for Thanksgiving, but I don't want to be stuck eating turkey somewhere. I won't even eat it at home for Thanksgiving...I'm certainly not looking for it in Disney!!!

We've been twice for Thanksgiving ('09 & '10) and will be going again this year. We've done Chef Mickey ('09) and HATED it!!!! and Hollywood & Vine ('10) was just ok. This year I think we are going to try 50's Primetime Cafe, I've heard nothing but good things about it!

I've also heard Liberty Tree Tavern is very good for the traditional meal, but MK on a holiday is usually so busy and getting an ADR may be very difficult.
