I'm heading to LA over thanksgiving to visit my cuz who goes to USC. Spending a few days in West Hollywood then thinking about hitting Disney.

My question is... will there be a big change in decoration from thanksgiving to "black" Friday. I know at WDW it changes overnight. I'm thinking of doing DL at the end of my trip for this reason. Been to WDW many times but never during the Christmas season. And I've never been to DL. Will it be super crowded and I'm crazy for even going on thanksgiving day.

Also do you think 1 day or 2. I want to see DL but also visit the Carsland at DCA.

I guess I'm Asking is it worth it to see the Christmas decor. I could go when I first arrive on the 11/18.

Thanks in advance.

I believe in one of the Christmas threads it was determined that most all of the decorations will be up by 11/12.

Thanksgiving weekend is considered a "busy" weekend. I've heard the week after is pretty quiet. DL also does their decorations overnight, but if they put them up by 11/12 then sounds like you'll see them no problem.

I'd say at some point in your life you should see the Christmas decorations. Whether that is this year or in the future is up to you.

The Haunted Mansion is particularly impressive.

You can do 1 day if you want to do limited rides and just take in the sights. Probably 2 days if you want a show or 2 and some rides.

If you want to see DL and Cars Land I'd definitely plan for at least 2 days, even if you're just casually interested. Unless you get lucky with wait times it will probably take a few hours just to see Cars Land.

The Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving weren't bad as far as crowds last year. The weekdays the week after Thanksgiving are less busy, but hours are short (if I recall correctly, they closed at 8 those weekdays) and there's less entertainment, so that's a judgment call for you.

I don't know when you're coming to LA, but do NOT go the days immediately before Thanksgiving if you can possibly avoid it. Crowds are much bigger the days before Thanksgiving than the days after, probably because a lot of kids in California get the whole week of Thanksgiving off school and annual pass blockouts really kick in starting Thanksgiving day.
