There is a high probability that we'll be spending Thanksgiving with the Mouse this year. Anyone have suggestions on where to go for dinner? I've 'heard' that some of the establishments 'change' their menu for Thanksgiving so I'm curious as to which are 'hot spots' for reservations and why. (Note--we'll be on the dining plan so the 'cost' isn't a concern). Thanks in advance for your opinions!!!

OK, I'll throw an opinion out there. :)
First suggestion would be Liberty Tree Tavern - it's probably the closest you can get to feeling like a traditional Turkey Day meal. Sitting down together and being served family style seems more like a holiday meal. Plus, with the restaurant layout, it felt cozier. Just an opinion.
Now, we had planned on eating at LTT on Thanksgiving when we went in '05, but the ADR gods had other plans and we ended up at Crystal Palace, which had a lovely spread of takes on the traditional feast. Very good food, but the ambience felt more "Sunday afternoon tea" than Thanksgiving.
Hope this helps.

We were lucky enough to be at WDW Thanksgiving week last year. It was awesome! We had our Thanksgiving dinner at Thanksgiving at the Fort at Fort Wilderness. I could never find alot of information out on this but we took a chance and went. It was wonderful if you have kids or are a kid at heart. The food was okay - BUT there were alot of charecters and alot of interaction. It was a country music show and the charecters actually danced on the dance floor with the children. For us - it was the perfect holiday at Disney!

This sounds like the Backyard BBQ.

We actually ate Thanksgiving lunch at Fort Wilderness last year, at Trail's End. They had their usual buffet (fried chicken, pizza, bbq), plus an additional Thanksgiving buffet table set up with turkey, dressing, potatoes, etc. They also brought a pumpkin pie out to every table as a special dessert.

We always love Trail's End, and it's a good choice for a big meal!

We'll be there for TG as well. My DH has decided he would rather skip trad. dinner. This is our first year using dining plan and we have never eaten at a TS before. So yes I'm going crazy on the ADR decisions. Leaning heavily on disers!!

Yes, this does sound like the Backyard BBQ, so maybe they change the name for that day? I was planning on doing the Backyard BBQ on Thanksgiving, so i will have to ask for that and Thanksgiving at the Fort. Just to make sure i get the right thing.

We were in WDW this past Thanksgiving too. Based off of recommendations we made our ADR at 50s Primetime Cafe. Everyone told us how fun it was and what great food they had. We all ordered the traditional Thanksgiving plate. It was terrible. Really bad. POFQ offered a traditional Thanksgiving CS meal and it was a 100 times better.

Thanks for all the opinions! I'm leaning toward either Liberty Tavern or Garden Grill...can't do the ADRS for a while yet (late May), but I'm waiting...I'll be on the phone bright and early to get what i want! :)

Thanks!

I vote for Crystal Palace - we had a great Thanksgiving meal there a few years ago around 2pm. I don't recall any special changes to the buffet but the character lunch turned out to be the highlight of our trip. (We are two adults, no kids)

Thanks. I would LOVE to do Crystal Palace except for one small thing. I just really don't like Winnie the Pooh. We only go on the ride because the kids like it (and I have to say the one time we ended up with a Dream FastPass because my son wanted to ride it again). But maybe we will...we shall see. Love the suggestions!

Last year at the R&C we had our regular menu, plus also a little thanksgiving menu which had Turkey with all the trimmings, and a pumpkin trifle desert. It was really popular, and everyone loved it!

we got to eat everything that was left in the kitchen at the end of the night and it was yummmmmmy!!!

Last year (07) we had reservations for Boma but decided to eat at home. I think we will do Boma this year. The year before we did Le Cellier (06)-very nice food and service. The year before that Whispering Canyon (05.) I loved it but my mother though it was way too loud and my dad said it tasted like "bad air force food." :rotfl2: DH's parents had fun there. The Christmas tree was up and beautiful! The year before (04) was Liberty Tree Tavern and we all liked the food but it was not cozy at all-it was SUPER LOUD!!!

We really don't like turkey and after reading the menus it looked like many places were having traditional T-day fare all week we were scared that every buffet would have turkey. We ate at Hoop Dee Doo on Thanksgiving and they had nothing different except they sent us home with a pie. Even on the buffets I did not notice too much recognition of the holiday except at LTT where we expected it. I was happy to not have turkey at 25 meals.

I can't decide where to eat for Thanksgiving either. I have it narrowed down though. We are planning to be at AK on Thanksgiving and MGM in the evening, so I am thinking that we may have lunch at Tusker House or Yak and Yeti or 50s Prime Time at the Studios that night for dinner.

OK, this is off the Thanksgiving topic, but...if you haven't eaten in Yak/Yeti, I STRONGLY recommend the Lettuce Cups (on the appetizer list)..>I get them as my meal. They are AWESOME. Can't use the dining plan for that, but they're yummy none-the-less.

As for Thanksgiving...I'm still weighing between Garden Grill and Liberty Tree...I think we'll be in MK and I just don't know if I want to take the time to go over to Epcot for GG. I have over a month to decide though since the ADRs don't until until the end of May for this trip!
