NEXT year, we will be at WDW all of the week that includes Thanksgiving. Our DS is getting married there, and we are curious about crowds. Is the begining of the week as bad as Thanksgiving Day and the weekend that follows? What about the weekend before? We were kind of thinking that the crowds wouldn't be an issue until Wednesday (day before TG). Does that sound right?

if you think in terms of capacity being 100% for all of WDW it will go something like this. These happen to be the days of our trip this year, and this will be the 4th Thanksgiving trip

Sat - 18th = 65%
Sun - 19th = 60%
Mon - 20th = 60%
Tue - 21st = 75%
Wed - 22nd = 85%
Thurs - 23rd (Thanksgiving) = 95%
Fri - 24th = 100%
Sat - 25th = 95%
Sun - 26th = 85%
Mon - 27th = 70%
Tues - 28th = 60%

Both weekends get jump from locals.

We go most years @Thanksgiving, too, and I think Got Quattro? has very accurate figures. It seems to grow during the week and Thanksgiving day is pretty wild. It doesn't seem to hamper our fun, though. I still recommend this week as a great time to go. Have a wonderful trip!

THANKS! Sounds like we need to encourage "the kids" to think in terms of Sunday or Monday for that wedding! They will likely have to leave on Friday anyway, so sounds like it will be crowded, but okay if we stay aay from teh parks on Friday.

Now, I wonder if I could get a break down by park? Are these percentages resort wide, or are some parks busier than others on certain days? I am expecting MK to be the busiest, but what about AK and MGM?

We'll be there the 18th - 25th...hoping to get in as much park time in by T-day as possible then take it easy the last couple of days.

I was giving resort wide....

When things get crowded like that, above 85%, it doesn't matter what park you are at. You will be shoulder to shoulder no matter where you go.

You can't escape the crowds, only tollerate them and have the best time you can.

Hey, Diane. We'll be there for Thanksgiving week this year. I'll let you know how it went after we get back (and maybe while we're there). We're staying at VWL this time.

We'll be there for Thanksgiving. Just 29 days :cool1: left till we leave. I'm hopeful that all the time that I've spent on the Dis getting ready for this trip helps make this trip go a little smoother.

We'll be at AK on Thanksgiving day.

See you there :)

We have gone middle of summer thelastthree years, so our upcoming thanksgiving trip should bebetter justfor the weather. Are the crowds about the same as peak summer like late June early August?

We were there last year on the day after Thanksgiving and it was crowded but not enough to take away from a great day. We just used a strategy of getting in early, using fast passes, and not expecting to do too many big rides. We hopped to three parks, as I recall. We were all pretty impressed with all that we could do. We're going to be there doing it again this year!

Thanks, Deb! I'm particularily interested in the weekend before and early that week. Looks like "the kids" will get there on the Sunday before.

We're arriving on the Sat before and leaving the Sat after. I'll get back with you on this. Where are you planning on staying next year? OKW?

Of course! Just trying to decide how many and what size villas we will need. Might go with a GV plus a 1 bedroom.

We are arriving the sunday before TG and leaving late on the sat after TG.. This is our 4th TG in WDW, and for us it's is a great time of yr. to go.. The weekend before TG is not bad at all, and the monday, tues, and weds, before TG aren't bad either.. TG day up til the weekend after are crazy, But we will be one of the nutty ones at the MK for TG day. LOL
But, we are following the same idea as SweetPea01, We are hitting all the parks up til TG and taking it easy the rest of the time.
It is a wonderful time of yr to go though, the weather is great, warm days/cool mornings & nights.. and you get to see it decorated for the holidays.
