Thinking about coming a few days during Thanksgiving week and wondering if early in the week would be better than later in the week. Also, how are the crowds on Thanksgiving Day??? Thanks!

the problem with 2015 Thanksgiving is that after the holiday it immediately falls into the first week of December. This is the last year that will happen for awhile. The week after Thanksgiving returns in 2016. As a consequence, it is crowded, with the 60th, shorter holiday post thanksgiving calendar and the concept " i don't celebrate until after Thanksgiving"...it will be crowded. I can give you all my past Thanksgivings in the resort but they have no value in measuring 2015. But some observations. Wednesdays are the worse. Everyone has arrived for the 4 day weekend, so Wednesday is the free day away from local family holiday gatherings. many drunk people in the park on Wednesday nights. My thanksgiving mornings have been great in relationship to crowd expectations. DCA shows are easy to manage in the afternoon. I have never been there Friday after as that is our travel day out. We visit Friday before the holiday, go rock climbing sat and sun and then tour M-thanksgiving day

I have never been during Thanksgiving week so i can't give personal information, but last year i clearly remember reading on here as well as on another site that monday and tuesday were extremely busy because the AP's were not blocked out.

In 2013 we went during thanksgiving week and we were pleasantly surprised. During my research of what to expect for crowds I started to get really worried, people had said in past years the park had reached capacity and that it was super busy all week. So we went on our trip with the expectations that ride lines would be long, food lines would be long, and just overall crowded. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised! It wasn't really all that bad, in fact we usually go in Oct and it didn't seem anymore crowded than it is then. On Thanksgiving day the morning was quite pleasant, really low crowds, it did start to pick up during the day but definitely manageable and nowhere near capacity.

We have gone Thanksgiving week the last 3 years (the last two years being were it's the last week of Nov) and I would say Thanksgiving Day is the quietest. If you don't want to go that day, I'd say the Monday of that week. T/W starting getting more crowded.

We were there for the weekend after Thanksgiving 2013 and truly did not think it was horribly crowded with the exception of Fantasmic and WOC, but I would think that was normal for any time of the year. It actually rained on Black Friday which made the parks nice and empty for us :-)

The days after Thanksgiving are not as bad as the days leading up to it. Mon and Tue last year were 10 out of 10 crowd levels on Touring Plans (those were the actual "what they saw" figures). A friend of mine was there on those days and she confirmed that it was crazy. I would avoid those days if possible.

We were there Fri to Mon right after Thanksgiving last year and, even though it was crowded, it was still manageable if you go in with a plan. Getting there early is always key. I think Saturday was the busiest day, but we spent most of our time in DCA and it was better than DL. That was the day we rode RSR 3x in one day! We hopped over DL around lunch time and I remember the line for Pirates wrapping around and up the bridge so you KNOW it's crowded when that happens! The Sunday after T-day was definitely the best, but I feel that way about all Sundays in DL. They are such quiet mornings and I don't recall the afternoon being too bad that day either, maybe everyone heading home after the holiday made for lower crowds that day.

I think this year will be more crowded in general because of the 60th, but like I said, it's always do-able if you get there early, have a plan, and use FPs to your advantage. Hope you have a great time!

Looks like we will be joining the big crowds. We just booked for 11/21-11/26. We will definitely plan to arrive early each day.

Another thing different about Thanksgiving this year in addition to the 60th celebration is that Thanksgiving Day doesn't appear to be blocked out for deluxe passholders this year. That is definitely different from the last several years. I am curious/concerned how that will change the crowd pattern that day.

We are going Thanksgiving week. We know it is going to be crowded. We are more concerned about where we are going to eat. LOL
