How crazy are crowds usually on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. My dad will be in town and just expressed interest in wanting to go to Disneyland with the kids. We have APs, and Sunday is the only day he's here that DH and DD aren't blocked (along with many other passholders...). We're fine if we don't get too much "done", we just want to make sure it's not unbearably crowded - if so, we can always figure out something else to do.

We were there yesterday (Saturday) and found crowds to be manageable (crowded but still fun), but we did hop over to DCA for the afternoon/early evening. I'm thinking we may need to get him a hoop if we wind Up going...

You answered your own question. What is unbearable to you? And how far would you have to drive? The Sunday after Thanksgiving isn't just the busiest ravel day of the year for flying, but driving too.

Yes - I figure that all/most of the APs being un-blocked could be an issue ;) We're about 40 miles from DL, so we would consider traffic, but that alone is probably not going to be a deal breaker.

We had been planning to avoid it next weekend, but up my Dad just threw this idea into the mix... We are fairly tolerant of crowds, but my dad is less so. So, I guess what I'm really trying to figure out how to best prepare him/empower him to decide if this is something he really wants to do.

When was the last time your dad was at DLR? Was it recently or a long time ago? If it wasn't a recent visit, he may have absolutely no idea of how much more crowded things are now, especially since the 60th. We wanted to take my FIL, but he couldn't get his head around the idea of the crowds (he hasn't been to DL since the 1970s). We ended up doing something else as a family just to spare him and make it less stressful for everyone else.

I don't know if he's ever been to DL. We went to WDW growing up, but the last time he was there was probably I the 90s. I'll have a chat with him and see what he's thinking. I'm guessing something a bit more low key (I.e. Going to a local attraction or maybe going to get a Christmas tree) might have the effect he's looking for (very excited kids) without the crowds :) or at least if I've warned him about the crowds he'll be more likely to take it in stride :)
