Thanksgiving reservation question

We are waitlisted for Thanksgiving. We understand that this is a very busy time of year and we knew there was a very good chance we would have to go on the waitlist. But, I am kind of curious about something. When we called Member Services, we tried to get 2 two bedrooms for Wednesday (check in) to Sunday (check out). All the days were available EXCEPT Thanksgiving night. Do that many people go to WDW to stay just for one night/Thanksgiving night? It seemed strange that all the nights around Thanksgiving were open.

My husband was calling day by day for reservations from Tuesday - Sunday, and the only night we had to waitlist was Thursday. It seemed odd to me, but I was hoping that we'd see some 11-month reservations cancelled as the 7-month window opened. He said the MS person seemed to indicate the wait list wasn't terribly long. But yes - DH called on the 23rd and had to waitlist for 2 SSR studios for the night of 11/22.

Oddly enough, checking the reservation now online, we have 2 reservations for each SSR Studio we were reserving - one for 11/20-11/22 and one for 11/22-11/25. So it looks like our waitlist came through before we reserved the last couple of nights? Looks kind of odd, but I won't complain if that's the case.

We are waitlisted for the 21st and 22nd for a studio at OKW. Those two nights were available for a cash discount, so I did that so I'd have something. Our other two nights, 23rd and 24th were available on points. It's still a long way off, so I am hopeful that the waitlist will come thru.

People stay for different times.

For example, some arrive on Sat and leave on Friday. Some arrive on Wed or Thurs and leave on Sun.

We arrive on Sat and leave on the next Sat.

We had the same thing happen, was able to get Nov 20 & 21 in a 2 bedroom at SSR by calling day by day at the 7 month mark, but had to waitlist for the 22nd (Thangsgiving nite). I had called right at 9 am and was put on the waitlist, by 4 pm when I checked my reservation on line that day it had come through! So I bet you will get what you need.

I was calling this past week for Easter(11 month window) for ded. 2br at VB. I was having nightmares about getting through to MS, when it dawned on me it was 7 months for Thanksgiving bookings. . Got through every day with no problem, even yesterday. Last time I called on a Saturday was at 11 months to book Thanksgiving and spent 15-20 min on hold.

I asked about Thanksgiving and 2br availability at BCV/BWV and only 11/19 & 11/20 were open. I'll save my "try other resorts" tactics for another trip.

We're leaving Saturday for VWL, waitlist came through in less than a month.

We'll be coming in on 11/17 and leaving 11/23.

Maybe a lot of local Florida folks go for Thanksgiving night because they have Friday off work.

They will call if you indicated that you want them to call before booking it. If you requested an automatic reservation they will book it allocate your points to it and then send you the confirmation.

We bought into DVC last June -- around the 19th...called right away for T-giving and of course it was "gone" and we had to W/L...but the W/L did indeed come through (we wanted to stay at our home resort, SSR, but asked to be W/Led for any studio or any one-BR...we wound up getting two or three choices before our whole 6 days (including T-giving) at an SSR studio came through...

No clue how/why the "moving around" w/reservations works...but it sure does seem to work...I've only had one W/L (out of 5 tries) NOT come through (and that was a std view 1-BR at BWV on Marathon weekend...and we did get a PV one-bedroom for that night)...

So...here's some pixie dust for you, along w/a guess that you're in good shape and quite likely to get what you're looking for!

After reading this thread I'm suprised we were able to get our Thanksgiving trip booked 3 weeks ago, but we had no trouble. Maybe because we only want a studio.

We're staying at SSR, Novemeber 20-25 in a studio. We booked just before it was opened to the 7 month window.

Wow , I guess the parks will be super crowded. We are waiting for our resale to go through to book BWV 1 bedroom 11/11-11/15 but we are staying at ASMO 11/15-11/23. I am not looking forward to the lines at all.
