Thanksgiving Dinners

We will be renting a house for our Thanksgiving vacation. I don't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner but I was hoping to pick up an already cooked one at one of the local grocery stores. (turkey, a couple of sides, a pie and some bread is usually what's in these)

Has anyone done this?

Who do you recommend?

Bob Evans and Boston Market both have complete Thanksgiving meals that you can pick up the day before and reheat. We have used both of them and they were great.

Walmart, Publix, Winnie Dixie and any other restuant in Orlando should have meal.

I'm glad this question was asked because I was wondering the same thing. I'm not sure if I want to warm up something in our condo or just go somewhere off-property.

Since Bob Evans was listed for take home meals, does anyone know if they're open on Thanksgiving day for eating in the restaurant?

You can order a turkey and all the trimming at Publix supermarket. There are several in the Orlando area. If your villa is near Rt.192 there are 2 that comes to mind. If you want to eat out all restaurants are open.

We got a takeout dinner one year from Publix that had to be reheated and honestly for about an extra 30 minutes of prep I could of done better myself.

Turkeys are an easy slow roast all day kind of thing and I could buy a jar of gravy, a box of stovetop and a container of Bob Evans mashed potatoes and whipped up a quick salad and it would have been just as easy. It would also have been tastier and cheaper.

I really don't mind whipping up a dinner; it's the dishes I hate and unfortunatey those still had to be done with the precooked meal. For me it's a restaurant or I'll cook it.

We did the Publix one a few years ago too when we lived there (it was always too hot to have the oven on all day.) Well the oven was on for hours anyway to heat up the turkey. I should have just made it myself.

I bought it from Publix one time and it seemed to be like cooking anyway because the turkey had to be heated almost 3 hours like a small turkey anyway. I didn't care for the other stuff that came with it and most went in the trash.

If I was on vacation I would go out and get a turkey dinner at a restaurant somewhere. I do know that Cracker Barrel is open and I would think there would be other places also.
