In 2005 our family stayed at BCV over Thanksgiving and had Thanksgiving dining reservations at Cape May. We had difficulty obtaining the reservation although throughout the day we noticed that the dining room was not full. The desk clerk told us (after the fact) that many parties did not show nor did they cancel. The thought was that some guest made multiple reservations throughout the complex and did not make the final decision until Thanksgiving. We had to take a time, not preferred by us, because of this. Did anyone see or hear of this happening in 2006 or did Disney require a credit card this year with the reservation to avoid this practice? We are planning on going in 2007 and hope to avoid having a requested time problem again.

We just got back as regular disney visitors this Turkey Day(will be back next year as DVC members) It was hard to get reservations for our whole trip. We did the Hoop-Dee-Do review on Thanksgiving. For that you gave your credit card, I don't know about dinners at regular resturants on Thursday. I think they are just ADR's. No penalty if you don't show.

Best advice I can offer is to book your ADRs for your trip as early as possible. You can make them as early as 180 days prior to your check-in date. I think Disney has taken some steps to prevent people making multiple ADRs for the same meal but I still think your best bet is to book early, especially if you're going at a busy time or during free dining.

We had no trouble getting ADR's (including Thanksgiving at Cape May, which was completely full at 7:30 pm) for Thanksgiving, but we did make them close to 180 days in advance.

Trying to get DH and DS to decide on a mutual resturant was the bane of my existance for this trip, hence we did not make our ADR's on a timely basis.
