We are spending some time on-site at Universal over Thanksgiving week. I know Disney, but am not too familiar with Universal, especially not at holiday time!

I have been trying to find out what Universal offers on Thanksgiving Day, and I see that there is a Macy's parade, but I can not find any dates or times. Is it actually ON Thanksgiving Day? Is it an all-day event (as I see there is also a tree-lighting ceremony)?

I am trying to plan on when and where we shall have Thanksgiving dinner, and since we have never done Universal over the holidays, it would be nice to experience the happenings there. I just can't find any specifics, and am hoping someone here has been and will help me plan that day! :)

The Macys parade and Grinchmas usually don't start till the first Satuday in December afaik

Correct...December 1st (this year) will be the beginning of the holiday festivities at Universal. Decorations will be up but that's about it before 12/1.

check out the onsite hotels.
if the info is not listed for thanksgiving day for the restaurants, call the hotel and ask.

those places will book up so make reservations for T day dinner before the rush.

also check out City Walk for dinner.

do a forum search for threads about last years T day dinners at the darkside.

Well silly me, I thought that since the Universal website lists a Macy's parade with the floats from Thanksgivings past from NY, I figured that meant there was a Thanksgiving Day parade! Now that I know there is no special parade to plan around, I don't have to worry about when to make dinner reservations. I suppose that is good? Kind of was hoping for something on Thanksgiving Day, but hey, I am not cooking, so at least that will be wonderful!

Macraven, thank you for the suggestion on what to search for. I did find menus from last year's dinners at the resorts, but I was looking at the menus when I was hungry, so it all looked fantastic! We will be staying at Royal Pacific on Thanksgiving Day, but it looks very fish heavy, and not everyone loves fish like I do, so we may opt for a different dining place. I am sure your suggestion will help me narrow down my choices, which always helps! :)

call the hotels before they release their menus for Tday.
they might not know their menu yet but could have an idea if it will be predominantly fish.

i don't know if RPH will keep the same spread like they did last year.

you just don't want to wait until the last minute to book a ressie at one of the hotel restaurants.

they do book up for that thursday.
