For years I have been hearing about the fact that if you go to Disney World over Thanksgiving, when you wake up the next day the decorations will be up. Well, we are finally getting to go over Thanksgiving, but my dear husband has us going home the day after Thanksgiving (fairly early). My questions...

1.) Will there be any decorations up at the resorts or parks Thanksgiving day?

2.) Will there be any decorations up at the resorts the day after Thanksgiving? We'll be at BCV. I've heard their decorations are really pretty. I really, really want them to be up for us to see before we go.

These questions are especially for those of you who have been there on these two days in recent years. I am guessing whatever they did in the past few years they will do again this year. Thanks so much for letting me know the scoop.

The Christmas decorations will all (or almost all) be up prior to Thanksgiving. MK and DHS will be up by the first MVMCP in the second week of Nov and all the other decorations including the resorts follow in the next week or two.

That sounds great. Do you think AKV will have their decorations up by Tuesday of Thanksgiving week? We check out on Wed. morning to go to the BCV. Also, what does MVMCP mean? Thanks so much!

We were at the BCV last Thanksgiving beginning the Sunday before. The Christmas decorations were not up at that point. I think it was the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving that we saw two tractor trailers parked in front of the BC and I thought they must have the decorations in them. Well, the next morning I was so excited when I walked down to the Marketplace. All of the decorations were up! It felt like Christmas morning!!!

MVMCP = Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party
It is a special ticked (park shuts down early by 7?) event @ MK with a larger Christmas parade with Disney snow on main street and larger fireworks. (Plus "free" cookies and hot coco)
I love Christmas, so I love MVMCP. Others may not think it is worth it. Unfortunately because Thanksgiving is so busy, there may not be a MVMCP during your stay (I think Sat before and Sat or Sun after?)

I guess the big "trip" is MK in early Nov. One day, Haloween decorations. Next day, Christmas!

I highly, highly recommend experiencing the Osborne lights @ DHS. So spend an evening @ DHS to walk through.

From what I've seen, all decorations are up by Thanksgiving, mostly the weekend before.

We've been going to WDW every other Thanksgiving since 1999. The decorations have appeared earlier and earlier every year. Most are up during the week before. It is a great surprise to go to your room at night and come into the lobby of the BW to find it all decoated in the morning. The elves work overtime. The Christmas music starts even earlier.

We are arriving the day before Thanksgiving this year. We did this to use our annuals which will expire on Dec 6. We're staying until Dec 3, so it will drop in crowds. Oh yes, I expect that the Xmas decorations will be up.

DH's birthday is November 17th and I know the BCVs went up right around the time we were there one year. In fact, they had free tastes of the gingerbread they bake for the display!

Oh! I can hardly wait :cool1: This is going to be fabulous!!! I do know that as of right now there is no MVMCP scheduled during our stay, and I would be like you...I would have loved it, but it sounds like there will be plenty Christmas decor to enjoy. I am from Arkansas, so I am for sure going to go see the Osburn family lights. I am scared to fly, but... The excitement is about to overshaddow the fear. Woo hoo :woohoo:
