Thanksgiving crowd comparison

While we aren't going for Thanksgiving this year we've been 4x in recent years. Ate dinner at Trail's End and LOVED it! They do tend to run behind seating on Thanksgiving though but food is delicious. Last year was Boma and the turkey was phenomenal. We enjoy Cape May dinner in general and I wouldn't hesitate to eat there for Thanksgivng; all good choices!
I'm glad y'all enjoyed it! My first choice was LTT, but the only ADR I could get was at 9:00. Clearly that was too late. So TE was my next choice, since Fort Wilderness has that rustic/naturey vibe that I associate with Thanksgiving. I'm always glad to hear good reviews about things we haven't done yet. We did have dinner there this summer that we enjoyed, so I'm sure we'll enjoy our Thanksgiving meal there too!

Thanksgiving has become our time to go to Disney. We've been 4 times now and plan to continue that pattern. We arrive the Thursday before Thanksgiving and leave the Wednesday before. It does get progressively more crowded as you get closer to Thanksgiving, but that whole weekend before is quite nice. The weather is generally good and crowds just aren't as bad when you're not dying from the heat! The only better time I've been is at Mardi Gras, but as an accountant, that one's hard to swing!

We have been going to WDW for Thanksgiving for the past 15 years. It has become much more crowded lately, but that is a relative comparison .

Lately Thanksgiving crowds are a 10 out of 10 from Tuesday - Saturday. Everyone's opinion is based on their experience and if you are a first timer you need to be prepared. You must have dining reservations for the popular places. You must have FP for the popular rides and usually only in MK you will be able to get 4 FP for some of the "good rides". QS will be crowded with queues for the lines at popular times up to an hour, and TS walk ins will be non-existent for most of the popular restaurants. We have seen waits for It's a Small World at 45 minutes, HM at 120 minutes, Soarin 240, FoP 300.

We were forced into going this week due to schedules in the beginning and have grown to love it. BUT it is not a week for the faint of heart IMO. It is busy and patience is a must. Just my opinion.

For our November 2020 trip we are going Nov 14 - 24 (leaving 2 days before American Thanksgiving). Do you think crowds will be not too horrible since we are leaving by then? This is the closest to Thanksgiving we have ever gone. Our trip this year is Nov 9-19 (so not that close).

No one can really predict anything with SWGE. You will have a much better idea when the reports for 2019 start coming in.

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare anyone off with my faint of heart comment. I was hoping to give a realistic picture of what the experience could be based on our past experience so first timers get a jump and have a plan before going.

With FP and dining reservations, eating QS at off times, and taking breaks when your party gets tired you can have a great time! Mid-November has gotten busier so having a plan is a good strategy for that time frame too, IMO. HEA at the MK gets really crowded so you may want to think about a dessert party (we haven't done that but I'm seriously considering it for next time). Most likely you won't have the Thanksgiving crowds until the end of the trip.

The weather is usually great, holiday decorations will be up and people are generally in a festive mood.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Joining in! We are going the 20th-26th and have never been around Thanksgiving before. Hopefully, being the week before, it will be pretty tame. We are looking forward to all of the xmas decor and MVMCP!
