Thanksgiving Advice

Here is the plan - sometime around Thanksgiving (meaning a window of anytime before, during and after Thanksgiving week we are very flexible) my folks want to take this group to Disney World as our Christmas present:

My Mom and Dad
Me, My hubby, DD, 4
My Bro, his wife, and DD 8, DS, 6, DS 4, DS 3 (this guy has a muscular problem that requires him to rest quite a bit)

What would be a good place to stay?
How many rooms/what type of rooms would you get?
Where would we get the best value?
What sort of passes should we get?
How long would you go for?
When should we make reservations to get the most for our$$?
Any other advice?

Welcome to the DIS, Viviannesmom! You've got a few questions here, so I'll take a stab at a few and lets see if others can help with the rest.

First, you need to make a determination as to approximately how many nights? If you ask us here, we'd stay for weeks! Your length of stay helps determine the type of tix you purchase. (You can look at other threads and sites to help find the best place to buy those.)

Then, are you going value or pulling out all the stops? The only place you can sleep a family of 6 is in the DVC resorts (I think). So, unless Grandma takes one of DB's kiddos, and you another, you'll need four rooms. (Your DB would need two, unless you double up.) You may come out better staying at either a DVC resort or the FW cabins.

Thanksgiving weekend is crowded. The week before is crowded but doable. The week after is supposed to be crowdless. (Our next trip is the week after Thanksgiving.) Have to determine how much time off everyone can get.

As to when to make the ressies. RIGHT NOW! Especially if you want to go 11/03! Do this either on your own or contact DU. They are supposed to be very helpful (haven't used them personally, so can't say) and they sponsor this site!

This is a start. Although it may seem a small start, you have to answer some of the above before you can proceed. At least to my way of thinking.
