Thanksgiving 2016...Anyone with me?

We arrive in thanksgiving. We went in 2013 and really didn't think it was that bad. I don't remember ever waiting on a ridiculous line. Definitely not as bad as Easter

We get in late afternoon on TG but are planning on doing MK. Planning on scheduling FP for the big rides and then just doing whatever has least wait. Nothing like spending thanksgiving in the MK.

We used to always go Thanksgiving week, because of school schedules. Now that my girls are grown, and my school has added the Monday following Thanksgiving as a day off, we are going Fri-Fri after thanksgiving. I never thought that Thanksgiving was as bad a the week between Christmas and New Years. We did have an awful time once when we tried to go to the MK on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It was horrendous. What we "morphed" into doing when we had to travel that week was to do the MK early in the week, then save the other parks for the latter part of the week. We did go to sea world once on Thanksgiving Day, and it was not crowded at all. We always take the rope drop to early afternoon, mid day rest at the hotel, with returning in the evening. We still take that schedule, because now we need naps :) Have fun.

We will be at the MK the day after Thanksgiving. Visiting family in Orlando for Thanksgiving, so what else would we do? :) I know its going to be crowded, but we RD and stay all day, so with some FP+ luck we should be fine.

My son and I will also be there for Thanksgiving. We'll be at HS on the actual day. We're getting in on the 15th and leaving the 26th. I might have to bring my computer to do homework since all my college classes are online but I'm hopeful that I can get it done beforehand. This is the 1st time we're going during the holidays. We even have tickets to MVMCP on the 18th. We can't wait!

How many places will serve a traditional turkey dinner on thanksgiving. We have been contemplating a Thanksgiving trip for years and always wondered where we would eat. Any suggestions?

Most places do whether they are on the official list or not. Last year we had dinner at Boma. They had a nice combination of Thanksgiving food and the regular African food.

We are strongly considering throwing crowd calendars to the wind and taking a Thanksgiving trip this year if DH can get the week off work (he just started a new job).

Back story: We typically spend Thanksgiving with my father in law, his 5th wife, her children/spouses/grandkids and her sisters and their spouses and grandkids. Over the weekend, father in law announces he is leaving his wife of 13 years. The reasoning behind the divorce has yet to be revealed, but her family thinks there is a 24 year old girl on the side. They are understandably very bitter. That leaves the upcoming Thanksgiving wide open, as it would be akward to spend it with the ex step mother's family now. So we are thinking we might go to the world for a little change of tradition.

My plan is to avoid MK on thanksgiving day. We'd like to do a Christmas party the tuesday before and possibly do AK on Thanksgiving. I am considering a T-rex Turkey Day, just for illiterative giggles.

I am little iffy about the crowds. I know Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest, but its our most likely chance to get a family trip in this year.

Anyone else planning a thanksgiving trip? What are your plans? Where are you eating Thanksgiving dinner?

I say go for it! We went for the second time that week last year from the Fri before to the Sun after and we didn't find it too bad crowd wise. Unfortunately they don't have MVMCP that week. That last 1 is the Fri before and then the Sun after. The Holidays Around the World and CP begin on Black Friday. I would recommend you book a CP dining package. Take time to resort hop to see all of the decorations at the resorts. How long would your trip be and where do you want to stay? Good luck making your resort reservations and ADRs!

We are coming in on Monday 21st after getting off the Dream and staying until Friday. Staying at our home resort GF. This is our first time at the parks on a holiday. Everything I have read say the parks don't get "bad" until Thanksgiving day. That being said, we want to do Universal at least one day for the Harry Potter. Is Epcot normally bad on Thanksgiving day? Do we stand a chance of eating anywhere without a reservation?

Thanks. we would probably be there 7 days, sat-sat. Im not worried about resort reservations, we drive stay off site, and there is a ton still available.

ADRs should be fine too
We are not all thay picky. We just come for the parks really. Theme park food is theme park food so no big deal if we miss it.

This is our first time going over Thanksgiving. Staying off-site in Windsor Hills. Arriving on Wed and flying back on Tuesday. Our only definite day is MVMCP on Sunday. We will do a late lunch and then to MK at 4pm. It will likely be our only day at Disney. We have a beach day planned, visit all of the resorts another day, and one day at Universal doing mostly Harry Potter. If the weather is warm then an afternoon at Typhoon Lagoon.

We have been to WDW in May, Oct, and December before but this if the first holiday we have tried.

We will be there from Nov 18 - Nov 26. We are going to MVMCP on the 18th, and on Thanksgiving we are having breakfast at Boma and dinner at Trails End. Really excited!

Our last day is Thanksgiving. We have lunch reservations at Liberty Tree - really looking forward to it.

I didn't realize that about the Christmas parties, that is very disappointing!

Yes, the last one for that week will be Friday 11/18.

We're going, we got Free Dining for the week which is great since there are barely any room discounts available for most of the week. Definitely tough to get reservations for dinner if you're more than 4 on Thanksgiving, we had a bit of a tough time when we added a 5th person last week, so we had to change all our plans. But it's working out fine.

We've gone in the summer a few times, so Thanksgiving doesn't scare us. We also went in 2014 and it was great, no problems with crowds. We expect to spend part of Thanksgiving day in Hollywood Studios, after Thanksgiving brunch at Captain's Grille.

We started taking our kids in 2009 and this will be their 11th trip so they're not so set on rides, we'll enjoy the atmosphere, shows, etc.

Make sure you hang around at the Fort for Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant if you can! The EWP is at 9:45 and Wishes is at 10. It's great!

We've been going during Thanksgiving week for several years. Yes its crowded but with a plan its very doable. Weather can be a mixed bag last year was sunny and warm the year before we were wearing coats and gloves. The parks and hotels are stunning with all the beautiful Christmas decorations :santa:

We will be there 11/17-11/27. I'm not too worried, I figure if I can survive Christmas week then Thanksgiving should be fine :-). We will be braving MK on Thanksgiving day and we have a LTT reservation for that night. Thought it would be a perfect way to celebrate.

Pretty much true, but for some reason on that Monday the 21st I could not get one single reservation anywhere in HS at 180 days out or since. No clue why. Even got Cali Grill exactly when I wanted.

We will be staying at Fort Wilderness (our first time camping at Disney) November 17 thru 27th. We have stayed on and off site several other times over Thanksgiving and really got to ride whatever we wanted to during those trips, perhaps because we were at rope drop for each park. We have noticed with each passing year that this time is getting more popular but a wonderful time to visit with the decorations and weather. Go for it!!!

We did Thanksgiving last year and will be there again this year the 19th-26th. We loved it! As pp's have said it's crowded but doable. We found the days we did RD we got a lot more done obviously but our boys prefer to sleep in :p This year we're planning on Spltsville on Thanksgiving with dinner at Trails End and then possibly HS; last year part of the family did AK for a few hours mid afternoon and found it very manageable. On Black Friday we did MK open-1:30ish and it was great! Then hit Epcot until close for the Holiday Storytellers and WS wasn't overly crowded at all so we're doing that again this year with dinner in Morocco. It was a little weird not being with family last year but honestly, less stressful! I say do it and have a great time :thumbsup2

Oooooh I had a brain fart and forgot about the CP and storytellers at Epcot starting Friday, and I think the DVC holiday party thing is that day too...hmmm what to do, what to do!
