Thanksgiving 2007!!!

I've read in my cruise books that it's a good idea to carry a case(holder) of some sort to put your room key card in and other cards, passports, etc. Has any veteran cruisers found this beneficial?

Melinda:

We have a laynard, with a pouch at the bottom... It keeps everything together and zipped up... My DD loves to have it, because she can keep her Key to World Card, Arcade Card together... I also included in there our Stateroon Number and Emergency information... It also keep everything dry. I have included the link below.

Hello Gang:

Trying to do my part to get to the 3000/4000 mark I can post pre-cruise tips that I have. A friend emailed me a compilation of tips from a fellow cruiser and I can post several of these a day...

Would that be Ok with everyone... I have found most of these to be very helpful.

WENDY im good with that im thankful for any info

last night my daughter asked me if we were going to be able to have a turkey dinner on thankgiving i told her that i read on here that they do have a turkey dinner for thanks giving she said if its not good like your then you owe us a thanksgiving dinner when we get home so im planning on just having a turkey the week after we get home and then it will now be called the christmas decorating dinner ha ha ha

The turkey itself for Thanksgiving dinner is good, but the accompaniments (dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, etc.) are not 'traditional' Thanksgiving fare. The dressing was a 'fruit bread' dressing, and the sweet potatoes (if I remember correctly,:confused3 ) were a type of souffle.(sp?) I thought it was all good, but promised Rachel THIS time we'd have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner the weekend before we sail. (She LOVES a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.) I'll be so ready to set foot on-board the Magic the week after all of the cooking.:)

well i guess like i told her i will do the traditional Thanksgiving dinner the week after ha ha ha like i said i will change it to the getting ready to decorate for christmas dinner instead of thanksgiving dinner ha ha ha

Create address labels with your address and phone number, and place these labels on anything that might be accidentally left somewhere. These labels also make filling out your luggage tags on the last night a breeze—just stick on a label rather than spend lengthy minutes writing out your address 4–8+ times!

Pack your clothing in one- and two-gallon Ziploc bags, making sure to squeeze all the air out before you seal them. This saves quite a bit of space in your luggage and keeps clothes organized (you can put outfits together).

Make a laundry kit. Six of the Tide tablet packets fit flat in a quart-size Ziploc bag. Fold six dryer sheets and fit them in along with plenty of dollar bills and/or quarters. (Laundry is $2.00 a load to wash and $2.00 to dry, and a change machine is available.) The kit fits in the bottom of our suitcase and takes up very little room.

Set a wake-up call before you go to bed and you’ll be greeted by a cheerful Mickey Mouse on the telephone the following morning at your prearranged wake-up time. This is a great way to get into the Disney spirit! You may even want to push the speakerphone button so everyone in the room can hear Mickey.

When you step into a corridor, do you get confused about
to do! It’s easy to figure out which way is forward (toward
stern)—just look down at the carpet. There’s an anchor design
The blue part of the anchor points forward, and the red part
to the stern. If you find it hard to remember which color points
points to the Bow. In addition, the carpet outside each bank
level. Memorize the carpet pattern outside the elevators nearest
you won’t accidentally get off at the wrong stop again!

All the stateroom doors look alike, which can be a bit intimidating for young kids (and even some adults). Personalize your stateroom door with a picture of your family, which you can tape on or actually print out on an inkjet magnet sheet and slap up on the door. A magnetic photo holder would work great, too. A picture really helps you find your stateroom, and it makes the room feel a bit more homey.

** Decorate your stateroom door ** We have seen many on some cruises and very few on others... Many people ask us about it and they wish they had.. We are all not crafty so if you need help printing a design for your family just send me a PM and I am glad to help. I have extra "Turkey Cruiser" magnets and will have them on board..

(Doing my part for 3,000)

I have seen a few people use the cardholders, but i dont enjoy having the thing hang around my neck. in the way. Personal preference really.

Also, this is the 84th post today so i'd say 3000 is going to be a non-issue.

Also, I can see where Pooh mommy can post 34 times a day...I just noticed the first one was at 417 a.m.

If you are a CC member, you will automatically get lanyards and cardholders at check in. They are no longer giving away the free pins though, just the lanyards for everyone in your party.

If you are a DVC member you will receive lanyards from DVC also. If you don't have anything from DVC upon arrival, be sure to stop by Deck 5 when the DVC desk opens so they can add you to their list of people on board. DVC has does a great job now with connecting members that are on board as systems have been updated. The last couple of cruises we paid cash for, we had stuff from DVC in our stateroom and also got all the invitations and voice mails so we knew what was going on.

If you haven't been to a DVC update lately, now is the perfect time to go with the annoucement of the two new resorts (Grand Californian and Hawaii) and get all the additional info. Also, did you know if you are re-booking with points, that the DCL desk on board cannot handle that? But, if you re-booked within 48 or 72 hours after you get off the ship, there is a point discount allowed. So if you are thinking of re-booking, get the info from DVC while on board. The DCL desk can't help you.

Okay, that's my tip of the day!

Okay, I was just sitting here at work getting caught up on all the posts and as I was laughing, I took a drink of my Diet Coke, missed my mouth, and spilled it down the front of me!

I'm sure I will make a great impression on my auditor in an hour when he arrives and I have totally stained clothes for the day.

:confused3

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Oh Linda....I did the same thing yesterday...but I blame it on the ice shifting instead of my lack of grace!

My co-workers think it is hysterical but I always keep a spare (cream colored) blouse on the hook behind my door for those very times! Actually, I had to use it yesterday when a coke can exploded all over me as I opened the darn thing...and then, I succeeded in spilling chinese food down the front of my blouse at lunch!

Guess I need to start keeping 2 blouses back there!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I didn't realize they weren't giving away the pins with the lanyards anymore. Bummer!

pooh mommy - I will only bring 1 suit each for DH and DS. I'm going to try and keep my shoes to a minimum. I live in my Crocs, so other than those, I'll just need shoes for dinner.

How many of you put the family name or the kids names on the fish extenders. I have seen it done both ways.

I am going to put my DD's name on our FE. She's going to use it in her room after the cruise.
