Hello Turkeys-

I'm back from my weekend trip.

Actually, I got back Monday afternoon, but I have actually had to work a bit the past couple of days.

Willie asked for photos, so here you go:

Luckily, it did not actually hit freezing on any of the nights we were there. We did have temp's in the high 30's though at night.

It was President's Day weekend, so the parks were very crowded. The one of the highlights of the trip, though, was the Extra Magic Hours night on Sunday night at the MK. The park stayed open for resort guests from 12 AM to 3 AM. Since it was rather cold, the crowds were the smallest that I have seen in a long time (actually maybe ever). No waits for any ride. On some, like Big Thunder Mountain, we were able to stay on for as many trips as we wished. It was probably about 40 out that night, but not really that bad (especially for a former Yankee ).

There are electric car rental places at the dock, and all up and down Duval St. (which is the main street and ends right at the dock). They all pretty much seem to be the same. My only tip is that you don't need the car for more than two hours. One would actually probably be enough. You can quickly drive to the Southern Most Point, the lighthouse, Fort Taylor, and cruise up and down Duval. Definitely the way to go.

Oh, yes, the hotel I was thinking of is called the La Concha. Look for the Southernmost Starbucks on the first floor (everything is Southernmost in KW).

OK, I've been reading the DIS boards for a couple of weeks now. And I just wanted ya'll to know I've booked my family on the Magic for Thanksgiving '07
also. My kids have had a Fall Break in October the last few years and we've gone to WDW the last two of them. Instead of a fall break they're getting a full week off at Thanksgiving, so I immediately checked into DCL. I've never been so excited about a trip in my whole life!
I think about it all day. Is this normal? Hope to hear back from somebody soon! I have so many questions. Thanks, Melinda

We spend two weeks in Seaside every summer (on 30A West of PC); and we might be squeezing a camping trip in to Grayton Beach State Park for Spring Break.

We need the stats on your family- DH, DK's, ages, beer preference, are you a Gator or a Nole, etc.?

In 2005 when we visited Universal, we stayed at the Hard Rock, so our room key got us to the front of every ride line. It was pretty cool. You can hit alot of attractions that way!

I can't believe you are up and about this early in the AM after a combo Mardi Gras/BD night!

You are right about being spoiled. We really started visiting the Disney parks as a family back in 2001. The twins were 6, and our oldest princess was 10. I remember staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge about two weeks after 9/11. The place was empty. Attendance at the parks was down for years after that. Lately, however, things have most definitely picked up. We still plan to go on off times, and take advantage of Extra Magic Hours and the Fast Pass system. We do not wait on lines-we are too spoiled.

We try to get to Universal about once a year-and definitely do the on-site hotel deal. That front of the line perk is great! We went last year the week between Christmas and New Year's. Being able to skip the lines on busy days makes the trip so much more fun.

Hey all, Thanks for the warm welcome. Well let's see there's DW, that's me, my DH, DD-8, DD-11, but she'll be 12 when we cruise. We live in Milton, in between Destin and Pensacola, more inland.
And as far as teams go, ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!! I think I actually read on here where somebody changed their cruise after learning the dates we were sailing. I figure as long as there's a TV and plenty of MILLER LITE Hubby's going to be just fine. So I guess we'll be the ones boarding in BAMA shirts.

Can anyone tell me how their kids liked the Oceaneer Lab? And what about any excursions for the family that are worth checking into?

You know I was just kidding, right? We all love each other here; we kid because we love.

Tell your DH that if BAMA wants a piece of the National Champion Florida Gators, then you all will need to win the SEC West and play Florida in the SEC Championship game. They don't play each other in the regular season this year (we will even beat Auburn for you to help you out).

My kids loved the Oceaneer Lab, but probably spent more time doing things on their own.

I can't help you with your excursion questions. I have only been on the Thanksgiving cruise once, and because of hurricane damage and high seas, we never made it to Grand Cayman or to Cozumel. On Castaway Cay, there are tons of things to do as a family- snorkeling, biking, swimming, etc.

Our ds will be 8 in time for the cruise. He loves the kids activities in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab!! In fact, he gets so involved in the activities that the only times we see him are to eat breakfast, swim and go to the shows. He was a dwarf this past thanksgiving in the Golden Mickey show.

They released our school calendar today for '07-08, and they gave us the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off. They've never done that before. I'm happy because they'll only have to miss two days of school now.

Lisa - did you get a picture of your DS during the Golden Mickeys? I love it when they bring the kids on stage for that part!

We have been on two cruises during November. The weather has been great both times. Pack for warm weather.

I think that you are allowed to have two suitcases per person plus carry ons. There is no way that you need that much- the common advice is take half of what you think you need. You don't want to have to pack and unpack all that stuff!
