Thanksgiving 2007!!!

I was just laughing at the thought of the Turkey Day gang on a RCCL ship. :lmao:

You guys who performed on stage at Pirate night and Rockin' Bar D would have to show everybody what real cruise deck parties are like! Their answer to pirate night was 'Caribbean night' which consisted of a band playing a few songs (can't even remember.) 'WHAT? No Y M C A, no Macarena, no chicken dance?' No funny guys wearing the 80's wigs and the Dolly Parton bras?' Rachel finally looked up at me (she'd been 'waiting' for the party to really begin?) and said, this ISN'T a deck party,' to which I said (sadly) we're not on DCL, let's make the best of it. (yeah, right.)

Wow, here I've been suggesting we sail RCCL and I've probably discouraged everyone. :rotfl: We really did have a great time, though.

Pris, you probably had a great time on RCCL due to the fact that you were with family and great friends. That is why the Turkey Day gang is fun to sail with. Good folks.
I have always believed the destination is not as important as the trip to get there.

Willie

P.S.

YALL HAVE A GREAT EASTER HOLIDAY AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Hey all, 80 degrees here today and I got a GREAT one......so, I back the vette out of the garage and put the top down and and get ready to head to the marina and get the oil for the boat......The sun was shining and I had "Willies beach tunes" in the c.d. When I thought.....where is my tanning oil.....yep, found it with CC beach sand still on it......how depressing!!!! 7 more months.........

Doogie, are you still planning on St. Thomas for spring break 2007?

Yeah, so far, that or a cruise, the week of March 17th... Like Willie said, the company makes all the difference!!! We probably won't make any plans until later this summer but those seem to be the top two choices now.

Yeah Lamps I had a similar experience. I looked under my sink and Lincoln had been stowing away the little packets of DCL shampoo. I picked one up Sunday and took it in the shower and washed my hair... the smell of DCL shampoo; wishing I was showering in a shower smaller than a tin can after spending the day on CC.

How funny Doogie......we actually have a huge zip lock full of DCL shampoo.....Jessica asked to room steward for some extras because of her long hair and he gave her about 50 bottles....so whwn I get me camper out of storage I'll take a shower in there....that will feel like the ship!! LOL

Rob, Rachel and I would like to wish everyone here a very Happy Easter. :earsgirl:

I wish, though, that we were attending church services on the Magic, and finishing with Palo brunch. :sunny:

Happy Easter!

I made a reservation at the Paris Las Vegas for Sept 1-4(Labor Day weekend)I am going to take Kelli there for her birthday. It will be a surprise trip, if I can keep the secret! If you can wait that long, why don't you come along and bring Kim?
And this invite goes to all of our DIS buddies!

Can you say Vegas Reunion?

Willie

Thanks Willie......Kim and I have only been to Vegas once together once....for a wedding that my girls (all 3) stood up in. Kim goes in May for a "girls weekend" every year. The inlaws are taking the girls to the wisconsin dells area (that side of the family has cottages in briggsville just outside the dells) the first weekend in May. I'm thinking of a vette ride south....tennesse or missouri that weekend.
The inlaws anniversary (40) is next year and they wanted to do a med cruise but Kims sister (her only sibling) is making every excuss in the book and kind of firing Kim up. I told them to make a decision, because I AM doing something for spring break.......St. Thomas sounds GREAT!!! Doogie?!?!?

You know I usually go for a "boys weekend" each year. But I have been 4 or five times without Kelli, and I figure I had better take her next trip!

You and Kim deserve a weekend away!

Bring the Vette to East Texas. I have never rode in one.

Tell John to follow you in the 'Stang. If he can keep up.

:rotfl2: @ Willie......Maybe I'll give him a hollar, haven't heard from him in a while....I think he is still working in California!

Willie-
That is so sweet of you to take Kelli to Vegas for a surprise birthday trip!! :thumbsup2 Chuck and I love the Paris hotel. They have a wonderful buffet restaurant there!! I wish that we could join ya'all in Vegas. Right now the only thing we have planned is a long weekend in New York in June for Chuck's cousin's wedding.

Lisa

Willie, that Vegas weekend looks very tempting. I just checked AA's vacation website (expecting the cost to be a small fortune,) and for that holiday weekend, it's HALF of what it's costing us to go to NYC in early August! (We're taking Rachel's friend along, but it's the hotel rate that's killing us.) :scared1:

And Lampy? St Thomas? I think Doogie is leaning towards that one.

Hey guys, not that I'm trying to sway your decision, (yeah right.) I have some younger friends who honeymooned in St. Thomas, and they said as beautiful as it is during the day, the city closes very early and that there's not much to do at night. I guess an all-inclusive package is much better though. (How would honeymooners know very much about there 'outside' surroundings anyway? :rotfl: ) The ideal way to see St. Thomas would be on a cruise, with an overnight dock. Wouldn't that be great?

Lisa and Priscilla, you guys can meet us in Vegas for Kelli's birthday! Lisa is right. The Paris is very nice.

Ron,

Be sure to stop in Springfield, MO on your way through to East Texas. . . Unlike Willie, I have not only ridden in a vette, I've driven one (at the ripe age of 16). Zero to "OMG that's fast" in 0.4 seconds. :moped:

You know. . . You both (and the rest of ya) could just meet here. . . go to the "real" Pro Bass (bass pro) store. . . . Silver Dollar City, White Water, Celebration City, more live music performances than you can shake a stick at. . . 4-5 different lakes w/i spitting distance. . .plenty of miller lite for all. . .

And so! Mr Doogie! Just when was the last time you took Jackie to Vegas? Welllll, thats a might too long!

Trey? Score some points with the resident slave?

Las Vegas fans!

I'm accompanying my dh who will be conventioning in Vegas in June. We'll be staying at the Paris. It has been 7 years since we've been to Vegas and I know there are probably lots of changes.

Any tips about best buffets, restaurants, etc.?

Fellow Turkey Day Cruiser,
Kris

Hey Kris!

Welcome back to the Turkey Day cruisers thread. (Any chance you'll join us again in 2007?)

I can't advise on deals in Vegas. (I haven't been there since 1987! It HAS been too long.) Neither Rob, nor I, have ever been lucky there when it comes to winning. (Except when I played a slot for my parents, and won $20.00.) I DO love the sounds of those slots and bells!

W, it's been a long time. J,s been a few times w/out me!!!

All, here's a link I found to an all inclusive in St. Thomas... it's about the same price as a cruise. http://www.wyndham.com/hotels/STTSB/main.wnt

Also looking at rentals on: http://www.vrbo.com/

VRBO is one of the reasons I decided to sell (not all) most of my DVC. If I want to exchange, it's more affordable to rent.

Kris,
The Paris buffet is pretty good, but the line to get in can be long. Also try the Bellagio breakfast buffet.

For a fancy dinner out, try the Eiffel Tower restaurant at Paris. I have not dined there, but a good friend has been several times and he says it is the best dining experience in Vegas. The views are supposed to be fantastic.
