This is my first year claiming myself independent on my taxes, FINALLY! And so with last year's income, school tuition, expenses and tax-deductible donations I'm getting a nice return.

I'm going to use some to pay off my trip and save the rest for other things.
:cool1:

We paid bills. However DH messed up a state return from 2008 that he finally decided to have fixed. He is getting a good chunk back there and using half of it to upgrade our DCL stateroom from an inside to a verandah. The other half is going in savings.

:surfweb: I paid bills and put a good chunk of change away specially for disney.. about 2000. I hope to do it every year, but I might have to pay this year :guilty:

We usually get a farily nice tax return, but havent been able to use it for anything fun for years! We had the 3 oldest kids in private Christian school years ago, and had to use it for that. Then oldest dd went to a private college 4 years ago...she graduates in May:cool1: and we have had to use it for that. Now we only have a one year break then ds will head to college, so we need to bank this years tax refund for that.....uuggghhhh!
Everyone else gets to do home improvements, trips, etc, with theirs...but we get to pay for school. Dont get me wrong, we are blessed to have it for schooling...I am very thankful:)

Congratulations to the graduate! Our daughter will also graduate from a 4-year private university this spring and we have two sons who are also in college at state universities. Daughter will start medical school in the fall. I feel your pain.

We will most likely have to pay this year since business has been better than last year. We pay quarterly and even when we got a refund last year, the money just went to pay for the next quarter's taxes instead of anything fun. I'm always a little jealous of those who get a big check every spring. I would love to have a windfall of money that I can just splurge with...sort of like winning the lottery.

To everyone that is going to Disney with their refund, have a good time. We'll get there, too. It just won't be done the same way. :)

I'm using a small portion of my state return toward my Disney trip. I kind of feel bad doing it though because I ususally put every penny of my tax return into savings. I feel like if I have to use my tax return, I can't afford my trip which is totally silly, but it is how I feel and I can't seem to get past that feeling.

We are getting a nice chunk back - less than in previous years b/c we usually get about $800 from state and this year we are paying $25. However, federal return will be used to pay off the last of our debt (minus student loan and mortgage) and then we are going to San Diego in August and WDW in the winter.

Good for you! My tax return went to paying for the delivery of my new baby. Money well spent, but we met our family deductible for the year by mid January. I'm hoping a local food store will offer the coupons when you buy Disney gift cards. That would help some.
