So...I stalked the DIS message boards for a long time before I ever posted anything, then when I did post something I had responses to my questions in less than 24 hours (sometimes within minutes). We are leaving next week for our week-long trip and I feel so prepared and EXCITED thanks to all the great advice and information here. :grouphug:

Since it's Thanksgiving time...

What are you most thankful for when it comes to the DIS?

I'll start:

I'm thankful for:

- knowing that Orlando weather is bi-polar so to pack for 40 - 80 degrees (and that the long term weather forecast is unpredictable)

- using the info from the DIS to know how to score those hard-to-get ADRs and FP+'s (We'll be eating a Cinderella's Castle and BOG and were able to get FP's for A&E and two days at SDMT)

- Learning about how people are decorating their magic bands and what to do when mine weren't shipping on time!

- All the great debates about best ways to meet characters, which parks to go when, EasyWDW vs. Touring Plans, etc.

I am thankful for the incredibly supportive people that can be found here. There were a few posts yesterday that absolutely made my day with their support for me and my daughter :goodvibes:

I'm Thankful for:

Knowing I have a family that doesn't really care to stand in line for hours to see the Dwarfs/Sandy Claus at MVMCP (and thankful for those of you who let us know it would be hours)

Finding out we can get in MK at 4PM (3:40 if we're lucky) on our MVMCP.

Learning we can book FP+ from 4-7

and

BOG lunch FP

(also I was able to maneuver MDE without having to make the same mistakes as those brave people before me who warned of it not being so user friendly)

Thanks Everyone!

I am thankful for all the members who have reported back their experiences trying to get to A&E at rope drop. Thanks to them, we were able to have a nice breakfast in Cinderella's Castle on an 8:05 am reservation, get to the left side of the internal rope by 8:50, and be through the meet and greet in 15 minutes without FP+. I ended up looking like a superstar to my DH and kids! Thanks everyone!

I'm thankful for all the folks who answered my questions when I was brand new, even though they had just answered them last month (last week, yesterday) four someone who was brand new then!

And for the people who are willing to go into such detail with maps (Robo) FP+ advice (Mesaboy), BOG fastpass process (sorry, forgot the author!), and the helpful people on the creative DISigns board who helped me add some extra special touches to my trip.

There are too many to mention, and I know I have missed a multitude of people and things, and I'm very sorry to anyone that I missed specifically naming that I should have and I know there are probably several, but a few of the things I'm thankful for are:

1. All my DIS friends and the help and support they give on Disney trips and also non-Disney things (i.e. dance tights, teacher presents, sale notices that have saved me a lot of money or cost me money because then I am compelled to go shop:goodvibes, etc).

2. Body Glide- never heard of the stuff before the DIS. Now, I haven't gotten a blister at WDW or DL for years, or on other big walking events, or when I get a new pair of shoes.

3. All the WDW and DL regulars, CMs who tell us what they can, and those on current trips or just back experiencing things, who give up to date information on everything going on at Disney- which is extremely helpful on trips and also keeps me connected.

4. Kenny the Pirate who since my daughter is a character fanatic has helped us immeasurably in finding characters, being able to time our character visits, and see everyone we want to see.

5. Josh, who keeps us in the best parks for the day along with a ton of other great information that has helped us on our trips

6. Robo for the maps.

7. Hydroguy for all his great information on all things DL

8. All the great photographers, like Mom2RTK, that post amazing photographs for us to look at (and for me to occasionally take to use in my trip photopass book when my pictures don't turn out so great- thanks Mom2RTK!)

9. All the Disers who spend their time making guides and spreading information to help make others' trips easier like Mesaboy with all the FP+ info etc.

10. All the Disers who give great tips like at DL the park opening Carsland wide right trick, and the A&E strategy that worked so well for us. There are too many to name and too many tips on a multitude of things to mention.

11. All the Disers who are ready and willing to help on about any question asked. There is almost always someone who knows something!

12. All the Disers who see an article or something posted with news on Disney- and think "Hey, I need to post that to the Dis". It is great to have a network of information.

13. All the Disers who report their experiences, both good and bad, for the rest of us to learn from.

There are so very many more that I have missed. I love the DIS and all my DISER friends!

What are you most thankful for when it comes to the DIS?.....
After stumbling on to the dis in March of 1999, I wrote a similar post here back in late 1999, as our family embarked on our first family WDW trip. And it too was a very successful, very memorable trip, felt like we had been there many times prior.

Most thankful? I'm most thankful for the many. many friends I have made and met in person from here over the past almost 16 years. A good number of these folks are lifetime personal friends today.

We are here now and this trip would not be anywhere near to as good without the advice on this board! Thanks to everyone and I hope I can pay it forward. Without the DIS, we never would have:

Gotten free dining
Been able to move over to CR from WL
Eaten at BOG for lunch
Gotten several sets of SDMT Fastpasses
Gotten CG reservations with perfect timing for the fireworks
Gotten my son in Jedi Training for an early session before later sessions were cancelled due to rain

And so much more......

I'm hoping to put my DIS acquired knowledge to work tonight at MVMCP!

Thanks again to all the helpful posters here.
