Just to clarify - in case my viewpoint on host games was misunderstood -

I like them. I like the rare items (whether it's pins or otherwise) from staff events. Nice trade items and a show of accomplishment.

I also like the ideas that we can get from staff events - room design, game ideas, etc....

I dont even mind the clicking to get in line if that is what is needed to keep the lines relatively quicker.

But what I dont like, and have no clue what causes it, is the dc issue that makes actually playing staff games such a headache. Yestereday, after I waited in a queue for close to 25 minutes, plus 10 minutes of clicking to get in, I was next to play and - boom! - dc! And that happens ALL the time. THAT is the main complaint that I have about staff events. Nothing else.

I invested 30 minutes today, only to have the room close. Maybe today was due to an emergency or some sort of unavoidable issue, we dont know.

Just a brainstorm ideas:
- Maybe it would be good for vmk moral to let us know why things like this happen. We are citizens in this little virtual world.
- If we could do other stuff while in the queue (see our inventory, write notes, decorate our rooms) that would be great!

Two awesome ideas! I wish VMK would give us a little more information about thing and why things don't work would give us a lot more empathy toward the game.

I have always wished we could do other things while in the que and that is usually when I read the Dis or clean up my office!

I still laugh about the math of the host games. Over 3 million people registered, about 4,000 playing tonight at any one time and ONE staff room. The odds are not great for anyone to get in. I always thought that just getting into the room deserved a prize :rotfl:

So true!! Just getting INTO the room is worthy of a prize! They should award a pin to everyone that steps through the door, and anyone who wants to stay and play whaever game should be welcome to do so for fun.... :teeth:

This would not be right at all. First off I am sure that the HOST_'s are not late because they are fooling around or playing. To me I think it's totally alright and ok for them to be late. -- You know why? NOBODY IS PERFECT!

Second you need your character to decorate your rooms, get things from your inventory, and to send messages. You can not do that inside a invisible queue.

I think a good idea would be to maybe open two or three of the same game. Maybe Fin, Hula, and Lily could all have the same exact type of room open. This would cut down on lines and waits. They did something similar for the ride event so it would probably work.

This would not work. If you take a look on the calender there are are not many days that all the HOST_'s are running a game. Do you think the HOST_'s and Staff really want to come onto VMK every single day? -- They have an outside life just like everybody else! And also another thing is for the ride events like when they do ride-a-thon most of the time you will not see them because they do not open their rooms other staff do. And for when they judge ride competitions they are mostly all on because there are so many rooms to judge.

This would mean giving an opportunity for you to keep coming into the room getting your prize leaving and coming back. The point of them having HOST_'s And HOST Games is for you to play therefore allowing the winner to get a prize. They make at least one pin or furniture item a HOST Game only so that a limited few would have them, but by the end of the month many people will have them. Also if they just had HOST Games for fun and no prizes I am most positive that the lines would be shorter. (Not For Me Because I Go Into The HOST Games To Enjoy Myself And Get To Interact With The HOST_ There. If I Win Then I Win If I Would Lose Then I Would Lose. -- It's That Simple For Me. No Complaining Just FUN!)

I totally disagree with crazy in both of his posts. Some wonderful ideas have been posted here.. But they are all going to be ignored because someone seems a little grumpy this morning and it shows in his posts. I agree that it would be useful to do other things in the queue.

Luke,

While I appreciate you defending a group of folks who work very hard in a situation that many times is beyond their control, I think perhaps people would be more inclined to agree with your point of view if you were just a bit more balanced in your perspective. For instance:

The hosts are PAID EMPLOYEES. It is NOT alright to arrive late at your job with the excuse "nobody's perfect." Please don't try that in the real world. And if there is a pattern of lateness, most folks wonder why arrangements aren't adjusted for the future so it doesn't repeatedly happen.

Perhaps, if the timing is not about the person, but the system, that might be explained so people do not assume it is about that person's choices. Again, if there were some communication about these problems, I don't think there would be nearly the outcry when people become terribly frustrated.

Yes, hosts DO have an outside life . . . . when they are not being paid to do their job. You argument doesn't work when the discussion is about people ho do not log in on VMK just for the fun of it. (Poor folks.)

Just to reiterate: I think they are outstanding most of the time. They are working under some crazy pressures. I've watched from the sidelines when they get swamped and surrounded wherever they go. I can't imagine being a host and being blamed for every server problem the game has. But a little communication, even if it is through the newsletter, would go a long way to soothing the sometimes riotous citizens of VMK.

This is very disrespectful of you to say. They made HOST_ games for us so we can have fun. It is not their problem you can not get into the room. Then they try to fix it and lower the line count and then you complain again so they make it bigger and you're still complaining. Another themed months is way better then what VMK used to have, because back then it was very unorganized in many different ways. And it is July 7th and I believe at the first of this month they released many things to our surprise. You need to just stop complaining and do something with your disrespectful attitude towards others. Please do not disrespect staff as you are not in their shoes at the moment and you never will be. (it's just like the saying: "you can't judge a book by it's cover" Well you can not judge others either unless you're in their place.)

Did Hula give you a surf pin for posting this? Give it a rest, your complaining about me is so pathetic! If hosts dont give you free stuff, I just might. I think you are the #1 kiss up in VMK.

Applauds!! Well said. I just feel krazy is simply too anti-player. We are his peers and yet he constantly belittles us for anything we have to say. Anyway he's clearly alone and isolated in his very strong views on staff.

Are you forgetting that this is their job? They get paid to do it, so they are in VMK when they are scheduled to be. This is not a game to them it is their living, it is what is feeding their family and providing their life so yes, they might not want to be here every day but I am willing to bet, they are there 5 days a week for lets guess about 40 hours! :goodvibes
