Hello everyone!

And Happy New Year!! Fred & I celebrated at WDW and had such a great time. We saw the new year in at EPCOT, with what seemed to be about a billion horns!! As soon as they started handing out the party hats and horns you heard them all night. It was too funny!

The next morning 1/1, we got up not too early and made our way to the MK. It was sooo quiet compared to how things were the day before. Everyone was still sleeping I guess. By around noon or so, more people were arriving, but still not near as many folks as on New Years eve day.

Anyway, when we first got there I went to City Hall to get Fred his birthday button and to make sure Scoop would be doing his seminar. We were told he would not, but that we could catch him on Main Street. So we went to the bakery to have breakfast and sat outside to enjoy it. Then Fred spotted Scoop!

He came over with one of his lady friends, don't remember her name. We chatted for a bit and we introduced a friend of ours and her 2 year old daughter. Scoop made them both honorary citizens for the day. That was very special for them, as they were moving from Florida to Indiana the next day.

Then Scoop reached in his bag and awarded me a new CTT!!
Wowzers!! I was elated for sure. We then said our goodbyes after chatting some more, and he told us to come to his 1 o'clock seminar. We told him what we had been told, and he looked a bt bummed. Fred was sure he would take care of that.

So after doing a few rides, we said goodbye to our friend and made our way to expo hall. Scoop arrived rpomptly at 1 o'clock and the fun began. One of the first things he said was, "if you have a lanyard, be sure to wear it". He greeted everyone and found out who the first timers were. He then started us off with a game, kinda like a "white elephant". You were to reach in his hat and grab a pin. The people after you could take your pin and you were then given a sticker and took another pin from Scoop's hat. Once you recieved a sticker, if anyone took your pin again, you got another from the hat and no one could take your pin again. There were right at 32 people playing.

An orange monorail pin really made the rounds, as did a doombuggy license plate pin. When it was my turn I pulled a #3 of 3 of the Stitch lanyard series. I knew I wouldn't have it long. But guess what? No one took it! Fred was next after me and pulled the Chip & Dale with Ice Cream sundae pin. We both got great pins.

Then everyone with a sticker got to pull from a hat of new pins and they got another nice new lanyard series pin.

Then the last thing he did was have everyone with a lanyard on stand up, there were 21 of us. We each got to pull a card, which was a CTT card, from his hat. Most had a CTT pin on them. Three were a bit different. All were CTT cards but on one there was a DCL artist choice, oh.. the second I can't remember now, but it was nice. Those 2 people got their pin they had on card as well as a CTT that went with their card. And then the third one was a CTT card with a Malificent Cauldron LS pin. This person was also given the DCL Jumbo Malli pin from 2005 pin cruise, as well as a CTT to go with their card. Very nice.

Scoop didn't have time to sign everyone's pin, but said he would do it next time he saw us. He had to leave promptly. It was a great time, and as always was so good to see and visit with him.

As we saw many pin friends during the day, we told them about the seminar and they were so bummed that they had slept in. It was definately worth getting up for!!

Blessing for a great New Year to all!!
Winnie

What a wonderful way for you to begin the new year! Congratulations on the CTT!

I'm a rookie at this, we left WDW 1/1/06, this is the 1st trip to trade for cast lanyard pins. Our 7 yr old has become a pin junkie along w/myself. What does CTT stand for and is there a web page for Disney pin acronyms?

...and to answer your question - the CTT pin stands for "Continuing the Tradition" and is given to people who encourage/participate/promote pin trading among others they meet. Good going to both you and Fred, Winnie. We'll be there in Feb and hope to see him then. Caroline :teacher:

Even though my family has been trading pins for several trips now...this will be the first time we go that I will get to go to Scoops talk.

Can't wait and hope I am as lucky as you!

Um...could you post a picture of the CTT pin? I have never seen one!

Good for you!!! Sounds like a fun day. I missed Scoop on my last trip. But I heard his alter ego entertaining the crowds at a taping for the Christmas parade :flower:

Here is a pic of the pin (I think this is the latest one)

You can see the above pin at pinpics.com: Pin 31225 and other CTT pins at: CTT Pin Group

Actually, there is a new one. It is the one we recieved on Sunday. It has Mickey, the castle and Tink flying on it. I have no idea how to post a pic or I would. I'm sure it is on pinpics, although it doesn't show in the group listing. Just do a search for wdw ctt, and it should come up.

Blessings,
Winnie

I can't believe I saw these for sale on e-bay! I may buy one for my DM and DB cause they really are great pin traders! Would that be cheating? Thanks for the input!

You will get varying responses to this question from board members... but since you asked... it is much more special to receive it than to buy it because it was given with a purpose in mind. Many CTT pins are numbered and signed by Scoop, which has special meaning for many of us who have been the recipients over the years. Buying it seems to take away the meaning behind it. Hope this helps. Caroline
