Thanks giving in WDW again?!?

Ok...so DH told me that he will be working at WDW at Thanksgiving again....so that means that DD and I will be joining him for the week! The company he is working for will pick the hotel and pay for it as well It could be any of the WDW resorts!

Here's my question for all my DIS friends:

If someone else was footing the bill for the hotel at Thanksgiving....where would you want to stay? (BTW they usually choose a deluxe hotel or DVC resort ) Be sure to tell me why you picked that hotel!

We'll be at VWL this Thanksgiving! We really enjoy this Resort with all of the
decorations and cozy lodge that's well suited for the winter months.

First of all, is your dh's company hiring!!??

I am partial to the Epcot area resorts, especially the
Y & BC. We love the ambiance and the proximity to both Epcot and DHS. Love strolling the boardwalk and walking to the parks

Since the decorations will be up, another great place to be is the Wilderness Lodge. It is especially beautiful during the holiday season, and I love cozying up by the fireplace!!!

When will you know where you will be staying?

@disfountainofyouth: we love VWL and would be more than happy to stay there and see the beautiful Christmas decorations!

@corinne: unless you like traveling for work 300+ days a year, you wouldn't want to work for his company. My DD has learned that when you travel with Daddy, he works and you play. But, I will admit that WDW at Thanksgiving on someone else's dime is fantastic!

We stayed at Y&BC and loved it! DD would love to stay there again and visit SAB daily!!

I vote for the YC. The only thing I didn't like about it was the bus service, and you already know all the good things!

We are staying at the Boardwalk!

If I had to choose a deluxe hotel or DVC for the Holiday's I would go with the GF or the BW. We are not staying at the GF because there is no DVC there (yet ). Although some find the GF stuffy or not their style I do think it is the most beautifully decorated for the Holiday's so I would go choose there first. Second I would choose the Boardwalk. Although the WL tree is simply stunning at Christmas the BW is within walking distance of two parks and the ease of that wins out for me. Plus the decorations at BW are not too shabby either! However since your DH company is paying for it, where ever you end up will be perfect I am sure!!!

@corinne - sorry, I forgot to answer your question about when we would know where we are staying. Probably not till October...believe it or not! That is part of the adventure. I just make reservations for meals for me and my DD and hope that it won't be too difficult to get there! But can't beat the cost of the hotel, so no complaints about the timing!!

I am so stinkin' jealous of you right now! Jealousy aside, I'd go with GF because it is the most gorgeous to me for the holidays. Will they do Concierge? Could you stay in the main building? If so, definitely GF.

I'm jealous too!! Have a wonderful trip and have fun deciding where you're going to stay. I've heard wonderful things about the Poly and have visited it twice for dinner reservations. I'm not sure how "done up" it is at Christmas, but it's Disney so I'm sure it will be beautiful. That would be my choice!

My vote would be the Polynesian especially if it was on someone else's dime. You are a monorail ride to GF to visit and hop skip and jump to MK which I love!!!!!

The time we stayed at WDW during Thanksgiving we stayed at VWL. Its awesome during the holidays! Any of them will work but that would be my choice.

Ooops, my bad. As far as I know they aren't hiring....but I'll let you know if that changes!

It's simple economics - go for Grand Floridian or the Poly since they're the most expensive.

You can pretty much use DVC points for just about any other deluxe, so take advantage of the situation!! You can book VWL anytime, go for the Poly!

BLT, for the full kitchen, esp. if you'll be eating in your room...then again, you're on someone else's dime so.....

But I still like BLT. I like it's proximity to the MK, monorail access, Wishes viewing areas, the pool and (I know this is weird) the gift shops. I love that gift shop at the CR! My kids absolutely love the arcade at the CR. That arcade seems to be like the "flagship" arcade, right? We haven't seen another arcade that comes close to the number of games and all those little junk prizes to "buy" with your tickets.

I've always dreamed of staying in a suite at the GF someday - especially at the holidays!
BTW - we are thinking of going down for a short trip the weekend before Thanksgiving - any idea how the crowds are early in the week?

I'd choose AKL for the "destination" feel. Since you will have Disney transportation at your finger tips, it will make the "at home" part of your trip much more interesting and special.
