I think they just got word. Tom Brokaw had a nice piece on MSNBC. Obviously, they've had it ready for some time. I'm glad he got to have his 100th birthday.
The Today show just cut in with a special report as well. They had a long clip piece to show, that they had obviously prepared in advance too. He was a classy guy, who lived a good life. He will be missed.
A sad day for sure. I think even The Mouse is sad today......
What an icon, a legend MANY times over in his own lifetime. And with one of his many quotes, I do think he is enjoying a great game of golf right now........
"I do benefits for all religions -- I'd hate to blow the hereafter on a technicality."
Boy it's depressing watching this coverage--almost every star with him is also gone--Crosby, Red Skelton, George Burns, Jack Benny...it's like I'm watching TV in my jammies again with my mom and dad. He'll be missed.

Nick Clooney was discussing Bob's passing with a NYC radio announcer and they said it's like the end of the 20th Century's entertainment with the passing of Bob.
Nick commented on something Bob Hope did when his sister Rosemary was hospitalized with a nervous breakdown after the assasination of RFK. She had been in the same hospital 5 times in the previous 6 years for the births of her children, which Bob had often kidded her about. Rosemary was in the lockdown unit and no one from her family or friends was able to help her. Bob got a note to her that said, "I hear it's going to be a boy." This made her laugh and realize that she was going to be able to make it after all.
