I plan on trading my week the vast majority of the time...

Maybe it's just me, but I would not spend $17,000 for a week that I planned to trade. There are top trade weeks out there for half that, even Marriott weeks. For example, consider buying a prime (July?) summer week at any HHI Marriott or a prime ski week.

Also, unless it is your goal to trade into other Marriotts (using owner priority for your toughest trades), there's no need to pay the premium for a Marriott resort. Again, JMHO. Look for more info on trade power, buying sightunseen and Marriott trading on TUG. HTH.

We own 200 points through DVC (enough for one or two week- long trips per year and I'm toying with the idea of trying to find a cute little mobile home in a park somewhere in the Myrtle Beach area (maybe Cherry Grove or Little River) to go on the weekends with my family. I guess I'm trying to get the best of both worlds.
