We got back this past Tuesday and I wanted to come on here and say thanks! to all who responded to my questions, gave advice etc!
We did DC, Sea World, Aquatica, Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
We've done WDW 2 times before and kind of felt meh about those days. They were fun but not amazing.
Discovery Cove was crazy awesome! Just a really wonderful relaxing day! Loved the snorkeling and the lazy river. I miss it so much right now and kind of wished we had another day there.
Sea World was kind of meh too. I guess cuz we have been there before. We went straight to the new Penguin ride upon park opening and there was a 2 hour wait. We skipped it. Then went and rode Manta. I have to say we were terrified! And ds had a mini freakout as soon as they locked him in. He got claustrophobic and was telling us he didn't want to do the ride, he wanted out. He was all but crying and on the verge of hysteria. It was too late and off we went. I had to talk him through the whole ride (as well as myself) because I was trying not to freak out as well.
I closed my eyes the whole ride and just breathed and talked to him.
We all got off feeling not so good and decided we wouldn't be trying Krakken after all. We saw the turtles, rays, the Clyde and Seamore show, rode Atlantis and decided we were done. We left by 11:30 am . It was so steamy hot and didn't feel like sitting through anymore shows.
We did Aquatica one morning on our off day. We weren't supposed to have any parks that day but decided to just go check it out and do a couple of slides to kind of get the lay of the land. We got 4 rides done and did the Roa's Rapids a few times. Left 2 hours later completely happy with how much we got done and it didn't take all day. Decided we would go back on our scheduled Aquatica day and finish (2 days later).
We did go back and did about 3 more hours of rides. Mostly everyone else rode and I sat out. The difference was..... the first time we went it was Saturday and there were short lines so the stair climbing went kind of slow. The second time we went (Monday) there were no lines at all and we were climbing and climbing and climbing. We reached the top to do the racers slide and the 4 of us lined up to race and they said go and my kids and dh took off. I just stood there. I couldn't breathe from all the stair climbing and was so scared I wouldn't make it down the slide without drowning. I knew that water would be in my face the whole time since you lay on your stomach and the water flies up in your face. I was trying to gulp air!
I didn't know what to do. I decided I better just go and jumped into the slide. The whole way down I was trying to gulp air and praying I wouldn't drown at the end. My family was like- What happened?? You didn't race with us?
They went up to race again and I sat out. I was still trying to recuperate. Now, I'm definitely overweight and I could make it all the way up without stopping but it winded me and there was no time to catch my breath before the start of the ride.
Because there were no lines that morning that's the way all the rides were (which would normally be fabulous!) but I ended up sitting out a bunch of times and I never did the Dolphin Plunge because that tiny tube was freaking me out! Claustrophobia! I didn't think I could get in there~!
All in all we loved Aquatica. It was just the right size for us. Lots to do but not so much that we missed rides. Loved the Roa's Rapids. We laughed our way around that thing so many times!!!
We found that we kind of liked doing a park in the morning, leaving around lunch, grabbing some food nearby and heading back to the hotel to relax the afternoon away and then deciding what, if anything, we wanted to do for the evening.
We had an amazing trip that we created so many wonderful family memories! Our kids are teens and soon won't be into family vaca's anymore so I am trying to cram in as many new and wonderful experiences as I can before those days are over!!
Thanks to Gina and everyone who answered questions and gave me advice and info to make our trip so fabulous!
