Okay, this is the third time I have written this post (due to connection issues on my iPad).

I wanted to thank everyone who posts on this forum. I have read over and over that it is expensive to take the Disney shuttle, and for our family of three it is over 100.00, just for the one way.

So, last night I checked into car rentals, and now have a reservation with National (my husband is an Emerald Club Member) and it is saving us almost 40.00.

The biggest reason I did this was because our flight doesn't leave until 6pm, and we didn't want to fork out 100.00 for the day use of a room at the Hyatt. So now we have about 6-7 hours to play with after disembarking.

That brings up two questions:

1. Will a car shuttle be at the port when we disembark, or will I need to call them to pick us up?

2. What would YOU do in Florida if you had 6 hours to kill? We are AP holders so even the parks are an option for us. But I am looking for other ideas.

Well done on your Saving.:)
Usually the rental company give you a Phone number to call for the shuttle.

If I had a good few hrs to kill after the Cruise I would stop off at Disney's Vero Beach Resort on the Drive up and have a nice lunch and relax at the Beach.

Then Drive to Mco after a little Chill Time.

Other idea is Kennedy Space Centre. I hear you can get Free Tickets if your from the US.

We are thinking of the space center. Our son would love it.

There's always the standard answer of going to Downtown Disney and wandering around there. But since you are a AP - to the parks to the parks to the parks!! well that's just me ::yes:: If not the parks, what about the water parks (depending upon the age of your third family member). There is the Disney ones and there are the "others" .. Wet and Wild comes to mind - probably more in the Orlando area.

Lucky ducky you! I'd at least go hit the fun stuff. Space Mtn or Monsters or something. Tower of Terror. Can't get enough of the Tower.

There are areas for each of the car rental companies right outside the terminal. You just jump in line and the shuttles swing by and pick you up. We've never had to call. They know the schedules of the ships coming in and come automatically.

We always seem to have a later flight out too. We'll usually find a nice place for lunch, maybe stop at a Barnes and Noble for reading material (or ideas for downloads for the kindles), maybe stop at a Publix for snacks for the plane (we have long flights). We've done the Downtown Disney thing too, but we usually do the WDW portion of our trip before the cruise, so we are usually gift-shopped out by that point in our trip.
