Thanks everyone! We finaly did it!

I just wanted to thank everybody that answered one of my anoying questions for the lat 2 weeks or so. We feel like we are part of a new family. Our new DVC family. We finaly bought and our home resort in AKV. We decided to get all our points in one that we would not mind staying at, if it ever comes down to that and in the mean time try other resorts when possible. After reading all the different answers and threads, we decided it was the best thing for us and for easy control of our points at the 11 month when we have a large group as we know is going to happen often. I'm sure that we will have a lot more questions to come. So we will continue to stay in touch. Now as some of you guys already know we were blessed to find another guide here in the Chicago area, and she is great. She was able to get us a standard studio for this coming weekend with a week notice at our home resort. So now I will be very bussy preparing this unplanned trip to our other home away from home. Thanks again for everything!!

Hi there, I did notice that we were neighbors which I thought was even cooler since we share not only our Disney Addiction, but a hometown area as well. Crazy thing is we just bought at BLT last week and we did it over the phone. We had been talking about DVC for years since we go every year and it is of course one of the things I Love Most (DH and DS are the same, DD not so much). For whatever reason everytime we talked DVC we would get close, but not actually do it. Not sure what was different this time but we looked into resale and was close to signing a contract when I read on DIS that the Schaumburg office was offering good incentives, we called just to check it out. The inclusion of getting 2009 points and 2010 points just really did it for us. I am sure our guide was happy. We weren't on the phone 5 minutes before we told her we would buy some points. It had to be one of easiest sales she ever made. So long story short, we have never been to Woodfield to visit the store there. Although we have been talking about it alot lately as there is a model of the BLT Villas there and it would be fun to see it since we won't be going home until next summer. Have you seen it?

We got to see both models back in April of this year in WDW and we actually bought 200 points for AKV. When we got back home, the DH panicked and we cancelled. I than started getting a lot more information and see things about the importance of getting the right UY for you. We initially had June and now we have December. We will be traveling mostly when the kids are out from school, April or summer. I just happended to be around Woodfield mall last week and stopped by and spoke with Cathy and I found out that we could get 320 for the price of 300 that we would off have to pay back in WDW. That's when I posted that you could get better prices here. So I figured we are using all those points as I have a recently married daughter in TX and she will be traveling with us along with her husband and just meet us there. She is a teacher in TX so the times will work out well with them. WE were debating for while about BLT or AKV, but I went to the AKV resort just to look aroud and we loved it. If we ever want to try BLT we will try it at 7 months. This unplanned trip is happenning because when I was thinking that we were going to have to pay the prorated AF for the 2009 points, I said well, we are going to GA and will be only 7 hours away from WDW. So we asked our guide and she got us the standard studio for this weekend. I could not believe it! You should really see what you resort room looks like if you have a chance and ask for any gifts that they may have. I was told they have mugs and some type of gift bags.

I replied once already and my computer didn't re-direct and then froze so I see that it didn't post. So I will reply again, hopefully I will be able to remember what I said.

How cool that you are a new DVC member and you have an unexpected trip right around the corner. That is very exciting and even better that your daughter and son-in-law will be joining you as well. I think that was the push that finally made us buy, the ability to leave the 50 year contract to our kids who are 13 and 16. They will be 63/66 respectively when the contract expires. They will be able to take their own children and who knows maybe even their grandchildren! AKV was my second choice, it is so lovely there. We stayed at the hotel right after it opened actually. However my DH grew up going to WDW every year until he was 18, so the Contemporary and Poly are very close to his heart. He really wanted BLT so that is where we bought, but I know we will try the AKV someday. It doesn't really matter where your home is, they are all part of the Magic and we are so happy to finally have our own piece of it!

Have a wonderful trip, would love to hear about it when you back. We are going to try and make it up to Woodfield sooner than later, but who knows with these crazy schedules we already have all summer long. Enjoy your trip!!

Well,
for starters, I just called MS for the first time and they were great!
Very helpfull. I was told that it was reserved for Kidani and she requested close to the elevators. So, I have so much to do before Sunday gets here but I'm very excited and unable to tell my children as they think that we are going to TX on Sunday morning.

I love the fact that your kids don't know yet, we enjoy doing the same. Our's don't know we are DVC members yet either. We are staying on a friend's points next month at VCG, we plan to do something special while we are there to let them know. Good luck getting everything together it will be a crazy week, but worth it! Looking forward to your trip report.
