We are AP holders at WDW and are heading to DL at the end of January for our first trip. I know that our AP's don't work at DL, but just wondering if we can still use them to get the 20% discount on merchandise? Or again, is that specifically for WDW only?

It is only at WDW.

It doesn't hurt to ask. When we were at WDW, one of the privately owned restaurants in Disney Springs gave us a discount because we were Disneyland MK holders. I think one of the private stores was offering us a discount as well.

Officially - it is only for WDW. But...

Agree that it does not hurt to ask. I went with a friend pre-covid to WDW. She had a DL AP (I had both) and she asked everywhere about using the DL AP for a discount. Some places let her do so. If not, I paid to get the discount and we just worked it out amongst ourselves.

I have vague pre-Covid memories of DL shops scanning my DL AP for discounts. Is that not a thing at DL? They just eyeball it in the app like WDW?

Oh that's true. Disneyland does scan the pass in the app to apply the discount. So WDW AP will probably not work at DL for that reason alone. I would still ask though. Never hurts to ask.

And no, WDW eyeballs it as I recall. Been almost a year since I was there though.

There have been (rare) times when the CM has asked what MK I had and did not scan it. One of our receipts from a sit down restaurant had a CM discount instead of MK discount.

It has been awhile since I had an AP but I remember that too. I am surprised WDW doesn't do that.
Shocked me as a WDW ap but I think they're too cheap to do the tech upgrade. (WDW has the dumbest AP verification system- you show AP in the app for discounts, they just look to see it's not expired. But, the app shows all the tickets for you and linked friends and family. So, anyone can log in and show an AP that's linked to their friends and family lol. They're theoretically supposed to ID check as well but in reality they only do that once in a blue moon.)

I was shopping at World of Disney one day before activating my MagicKey. They scanned my MK, and it got rejected because it wasn't activated yet. I did get a discount after showing that I was DVC-Y in my digital wallet.

WDW APs don't get you DLR discounts, but you can still get discounts with DVC or Disney Chase Visa.

In WDW, most CMs are OK with glancing at my digital wallet to see AP,DVC-Y. Sometimes I get asked for my ID. One time they wanted to see my AP inside the MDE app.
