I just wanted to say that while Santa may not be part of the religious observations of Christmas, he definitely IS part of the celebration of a Christian holiday. As a Jewish kid growing up we were very aware that Santa did not visit our house because we did not celebrate Christmas.

While I have bought Santa hats in vmk for trading purposes, you most likely will not see little Jegrezo wearing one. When I see everyone else wearing one it is very much an exclusionary piece of clothing. Santa is part of Christmas.

I know that these discussions for some reason can trigger "buttons." I want to state fullheartedly that I am not attacking Sparky in any way, shape, or form. I am just sharing a differing view on the symbolism of a Santas hat.

And I could not agree with Sparky more that it is wonderful that VMK (Disney) is beginning to recognize other holidays along with Christmas. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Just a comment about Santa and Christmas. Yes, Santa is associated with Christmas but I have met many Christians who believe Santa has nothing to do with Christmas. As an example, I worked with a man whose family celebrated Christmas by spending the day praying and reading the bible together. There were no gifts exchanged and Santa was not a part of their celebration. I'm guessing he would have felt excluded if everyone had worn Santa hats to work. I'm quite certain he wouldn't have worn one. I think Sparky is correct about Santa not being part of a specific religion but Santa is definitely associated with Christmas which is usually associated with being a Christian. I said "usually" because I know many people who do not practice any religion who celebrate Christmas.

This part is for Sparky. I do think it is great for VMK to add more holiday words and from different celebrations. I suggest you write to VMK via Contact Us and ask to have those words added. If enough people ask, we just may see the words in the dictionary.

Ooooh....a light up dreidel...and a menorah that we could actually click a certain number of times to light each candle...

That is an excellent idea! I hope they do it! They already have something similar, the scoreboard things, so it shouldn't be too difficult to program.

I'm not sure if this would be offensive but given the comments about using cursed storm magic for spinning, I'll take the risk. It would be pretty cool to have a Turn Into Dreidel Magic Pin so you could actually be a spinning dreidel.

Another idea, what about something similar to the number generators except it's shaped like a dreidel and when you double click it, one of the symbols appears instead of a number? Then you could actually play with a dreidel! Again, I hope this isn't offensive.

I really believe they should release the blue furniture for the holiday and create some silver items too. Even release silver versions of the blue furniture. I don't really care, I just want to see some silver furniture for a change. We have gold, we need silver. They should make things like the pirate thrones and Nemo chairs with silver trim, especially the blue ones! Star of David posters would be nice for decorating the walls.

And yes, there is a definate difference between celebrating Christmas and being Christian. I was just saying that Santa goes with Christmas.

I see your point Dreams and qruthie, I actually laughed when I read over my post. How could I not include that Santa IS a part of Christmas! He's a part of Christmas to many people all over the globe and I think its important for VMK to include that for all of the little kids who believe in him. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer on that.

I'm liking the idea of writing to Contact Us so they will include more religious/celebratory words, etc. I'm definitely going to add the idea about adding 'Dwhali' to the dictionary since its a celebration that isn't quite as big in North America, and might be forgotten. Also, that spinning, lighting up dreidel is starting to sound better and better!
