I just wanted to thank you for how you handled a very delicate subject that many people have a hard time bringing up.

I am Pooh sized (although I am currently trying to get down to Tigger sized!) and when I first went to Disney World last year, I was extremely nervous about fitting into the rides. I researched the matter on the DIS and other internet sites before hand and felt "okay" trying everything out. When I was actually in the parks, I had nearly no problems. I rode Everest, Tower of Terror, Test Track, Soarin', Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Rockin Rollercoaster, etc.. and my weight was not an issue. (My only problem was Space Mountain, and that was just because it wasn't easy getting out because my legs are kind of long. It's hard to be graceful when exiting.) I saw many Pooh sized people on the rides, some larger than myself and no one blinked an eye.

Disney World truly is for everyone. I hope everyone will heed your words of wisdom and go forth and have fun without worrying about their weight being a limitation.

Thank you again.

I hate the seating on SM -- I'm not what I would consider Pooh-sized or tall and I have a heck of a time getting on and off that ride!!! I always feel like I'm going to topple out of the darn thing.

I have to agree!!! I am 5'2" and I hate getting in and out of SM!!

I totally agree. Kevin said it very well. I especially like the whole part about doing what you need to do to enjoy yourself. I will never understand why other people feel the need to judge others when it comes to this. Disney is for everyone and it isn't anyone else's business what method you use to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.

I am large and being from the UK have visited parks in Britain and have had to get off numerous rides. Having visited florida on 2 previous occasions the attitude in the US is different. The focus is on everyone enjoying themselves. Where there are rides that don't suite larger people there seem to be more cars adapted for them. For example Hulk and Kraken both have seats with larger seats and double buckles.

If you are on holiday enjoy yourself. My claim to fame is breaking the speed limit on summet plummet in2005. I'm sure being big had something to do with it but my son still speaks about my record.

The pod cast is great. Please read this out to show how the US is better at making sure everybody is given the best opportunity to enjoy their vacation.

By the way - a hire car as referred to by the British is a rental car not a town car or a cab.

Can I have 4 Lanyards and PINS ahead of my family visit in 2009. PM me for my address.

Phil - looking forward to spending 4th july at the magic :rotfl: :worship: :rotfl2:  An will continue to enjoy the podcast. Wishing you well from Wales, UK :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

I loved the segment and have to give you guys credit for all the info on this site about Pooh sized people. I am not small by any means and my sister is very large. I was worried about her being embarassed for her first visit last year. The info found right here calmed my fears before we ever left. And Kevin I want to give you credit for taking up for the ECV renters. I am sure alot of people thought my sister was just lazy and overweight but she had knee surgery 2 weeks before our trip last year and had to rent a ECV. I am so happy we didnt run into any rude people assuming she was just lazy. I think this segment touched alot of peoples hearts. Being overweight is hard enough without having to be ridiculed (sp). Thank you from me and my family for this.:flower3:

I rode SM was when my DS was very young (just met the height requirement) and I wasn't quite "the ole pooh " I am now. He sat in front of me with DH next to him. During the ride it appeared to me DS was lifting off and lurching out of his seat. Worried he was getting whiplash I then proceeded to hold him down by reaching ahead through the seat to hold his shoulders. When the ride was over I thought they might need the jaws of life to get me out. There's no graceful way out of those seats. My back was a mess for the rest of the trip. DS remembers it fondly yet I haven't ridden SM since.
