Thank you, friends! With a quick update

Hellooooooo from Glasgow Airport!

Well it has taken forever for me to even get a chance to get on. I don't know where I my head was at, thinking I would be able to try and connect and post shortly after the whole event! :lmao:

I am absolutely exhausted, so I won't be uploading pics just now but I did promise to do whatever I could to report back, so ......

We got to the hotel. I had been presented a card in the car thanking me for my kindness to make this such a fun weekend by doing something special for us. :flower3: It was so sweet!

There was an initial hiccup because DD wanted to be on the top floor of the hotel, as my parents' room is, but since we have a family room for the two of us, all of those are situated on the first level. She was so upset about it :confused3 Meanwhile my dad had gone to get the cases from the car so she wouldn't see them while I got things set up in the room.

She watchd the video having a good laugh at all the antics the toys were getting up to, along with the music, etc. When it got to the Downtown Disney Menu I thought she might get it, but she told me afterwards she assumed I was making that food at home for her. :upsidedow

Eventually, when it got to the part: You're going to Disney World Tomorrow!! She started laughing and said, "The are so funny, they think they are going to WDW tomorrow ...." She then caught my eye and looked at me. I told her it wasn't a joke. Well I was prepared for everything, but she refused to believe me :rotfl::rotfl: She just played along like a good sport for about 5 minutes, then demanded The Truth :rolleyes1 Finally my dad came down with her suitcase packed with all the Disney things, itinerary and everything. I had to show her all the vouchers and tickets and she was totally dazed. She then went into a spin of excitement for a few minutes before collapsing onto her bed and saying she wanted to go to sleep. It was so cute. I had kept an open mind, so I was ready to accept pretty much any reaction, but I am so pleased. So right now, apparently :) I am the coolest mum in the world.

Thank you all for standing by me through all this. I know on some of the other boards people get slammed a bit for doing this, so I stuck on here with my plans and everyone has been so supportive. I need to get some sleep now. Still fighting off the end of this cold but so happy. Now, who's going to phone me in the morning to make sure I'm up in time? :rotfl:

That's amazing - I am so in awe of how you have kept this up to the end!! Have a fantastic time and hopefully some sleep.....:cool1:

Wow! I'm so pleased for you Lee :goodvibes Been waiting all night for your post ;) LOL

Totally understand the wanting to go to sleep thing! Earlier to bed, the quicker it will seem to leaving for Florida!!

Hope you both have an amazing time!

Thanks for taking the time to update - glad it all went so well. I like her asking to see the tickets. I wonder if she will think it's a dream when she wakes up!

Have a great trip!

Do you know I didn't want to open my mouth this afternoon in case I accidentally said something. I had got used to keeping it in my head or on the DIS so once I told my dad with my own mouth ..... it felt like I was free; and that worried me. How strange to keep a secret for over a year and then worry about letting it slip in the last few hours.

Thank you! To be honest I want to sleep because I am so darn tired. It feels like all of this has caught up with me. I went to bed after 2 am last night and the night before. Now I am exhausted, but buzzing, if that makes any sense. I did video the whole thing, but it will need some editing because it is quite long. I suspect I will need to get home to my decent speed broadband to be able to do that though. Oh and I might need some help by way of instructions on posting a video too ;)

Its not something we would do as we would rather have Matt involved in the build up and planning of each trip but I or anyone else has absolutely no right saying whats right and whats wrong for your family.
Safe travels.

You know, I have no regrets and this will be a memory for both of us that will last a lifetime. But I will make it very clear, as I did from the outset, I have done it once, it is great, but I won't do it as a surprise again. For the very reasons you mentioned, it also impacted not only the level of excitement I could show, but that which I felt. It only really hit home this morning. I think I mentioned earlier this week, the absence of a countdown, having the cases out in plain view and the general bustle of getting thing done is all part of it. DD also knows because I explained to her that all future trips will have her active involvement because I loved the surprise, but I would miss her help too much. :)

It's wonderful to read your story, I have been following your planning for ages, and have been so excited about you telling your DD, and finding out her reaction, well done! Have a wonderful holiday :goodvibes

Thank you. I really enjoyed tonight as well. Now for the big adventure :yay:

Delighted that your secret is finally out. You do know that when Tove goes back to school and tells her friends they are all going to think she has the best mum EVER.

Happy holidays x

She has already told my parents if they see any of her school friends in the next two weeks, not to tell them as she wants to break the news herself. Fortunately the teachers don't know WHERE we are going. I simply gave info on a need to know basis so I told them about our family trip without mentioning where. ;)

When you wake up in the morning you will have 5 days. Are you dancing around yet? :dance3:

A certain someone :rolleyes1 woke me up before 3 am, with "Is it time yet?" every 10 minutes. So now that I have had some coffee and almost overflowed the bath water:scared1: I am being constructive to upload a few pictures. It's really slow, but I managed to get some done.

Initially, she just really enjoyed the little video I took made her and laughed through the first part. When it got to the part telling her she is going to WDW

she thought it was all fiction - part of the show. She isn't looking directly at the camera because my mum took these ones while I was trying to convince her that it wasn't a joke.

Sorry about the huge photos at the end. I just cannot get them resized on Photobucket.

I was completely unprepared for utter disbelief

It took a good 10 minutes until FINALLY, she realised she is actually going! She toppled me right over when she grabbed me :rotfl:
