Isn't that over $1K per eye and majority is not covered by insurance because it is considered cosmetic? If she can afford that, she can afford books, even used on eBay.

Ohhhh that sounds good. Probably not too much otherwise it'll just be Dill dip with Tuna. Fresh dill can be strong sometimes.

I was thinking of also using maybe a dash of cayenne pepper to give it a little ZING. Or maybe diced banana peppers.

I just made myself some Tuna Salad. What do you like to put in it? I put:

A little mayo to make everything stick.
Cut celery
Tastefully Simple Bacon Bacon
Onion powder
Garlic Powder
Italian Seasonings

I like to use Mrs Dash, but we're all out of it.

Tell you son to have a single book that he reads for the first five minutes everyday of class but not to burn right through it. Make it last. Heck, I'll send a copy of war and peace if you want. That'll keep him for the rest of the year!

You should talk to this teacher and tell them that you understand their requirements, but your son is gifted and if they cant accommodate him you may need to approach the teacher's administrator and have a sit down with them to get this resolved. It's ridiculous your son is penalized for this.

Pardon me, but certainly the school has a library. This is self-selected reading, not a teacher selected assigment. As a former teacher, I am sure that you realize the difference, right?

And just what "LEVEL" are we discussing here? Independent reading level? Zone of proximal development? Interest level? Are we sure the kid is even comprehending these books? How do we know he isn't just decoding and that comprehension is lacking?

God forbid someone be required to READ in READING class. Sheesh.

And Jeff, your tuna sounds delicious. May I have a sandwich on toasted wheat bread, please?

Are you serious? You must not have read the thread. I don't think it stated anywhere that he couldn't bring his own books. He just needs to do it. And I doubt War and Peace will last him long. This kid's a whiz reader.

I didnt read the thread. You are right!! I just read the first part of the first post and ran with it.

You're not the first to suggest "War & Peace", I think we have a very well read group here!! I for one admitted upfront that I have never read it. How about everyone else. You could sit down with a nice tuna sandwich with bacon and pickles and really get into it. Book Club anyone???
