Just back from our 1st trip to DL & U Hollywood (along with Vegas & the Grand Canyon), awesome experience!

Wanted to thank all who patiently answered my newbie questions:goodvibes

"Your" park is a treasure:thumbsup2 , so glad to have had the opportunity to visit!

The Indy ride is amazing & Space Mt was also fantastic, along with all the great entertainment.

The ability to navigate the park so quickly was unexpected. It is a marvel as to how the imagineers managed to pack so much "punch" into the land available.

BTW, DLH is certainly comparable to the WDW Deluxe resorts; the hotel was absoltely charming. We were upgraded to an upper pool view room in the main tower:banana: (could've had double beds facing fireworks too):cloud9: hard to believe the hotel is vintage, really kept up well imo.

fyi, if u get a chance to tour the new DVC model, u will be impressed as to how luxe it is, should be a great additionpopcorn::

Hey there Keishashadow.

Glad you had such a nice time at the DLR. It really is a special park. :)

indeed:thumbsup2 special it is!

my youngest DS said he likes it even better than MK @ WDW...high praise from a teen who now prefers Universal over the Mouse. DCAs screamin coaster got high marks from him too.

Glad we worked in the Billy Hill show too. Not C&W fans, thought it would be corny mess...really a good time & nice break from the heat in the afternoon with a cold drink or ice cream.

forgot to mention that Alladin show was even better than the reviews, stunned as to the caliber of the production.

I recommend the experience to all WDW vets, will never forget it.:cloud9:

glad to hear you had a great time, we are planning our first trip to DL next year. Can you tell me what you did at the Grand Canyon and how much time you spent there?

:lmao: :lmao:  joke coming..... It is a big hole in the ground!.... lol  ... :lmao: :lmao: joke passed by.

Really It is an amazing hole but really to understand you need to go into it, by hiking or riding down. The colors change as the day goes by. The Water Falls are a beautiful! you will be so glad you did.

It's so wonderful to hear you had such a great time!:thumbsup2

Did you get a chance to ride the new Nemo Subs and the new Toy Story ride at California Adventure?

What did you think of California Adventure?

Did you get a chance to ride Pirates and get over to Tom Sawyer island?

Any favorite meals/places you ate?

trip turned out to be even better than i had hoped (only snag was my poor kitty Axl passed near the end of the trip-not unexpected since he was near 20, still sad though & put a bit of a pall on things)

coming from EST i thought we'd be up bright & early for the EMH in the am - NOT lol. We were so beat by the time we got to DL we wound up sleeping in each am:guilty: . Never did make it to opening @ DL, did get to DCA twice @ 9:30 am & headed directly to Toy Story Line...which is just great! Worked well one day, 2nd day ride didn't open & we bailed around 11 am:headache: ; i referenced gory details in another thread. Hopefully, all the bugs will get worked out soon.

Nemo lines were scary:scared: every time we checked 90 mins. Finally, gave family the choice of waking up for EMH or just tuffing it out in line. They picked the afternoon line which was stated as 1 hour. Only took about 45 min.; well worth the wait. I had gone on the subs in WDW & wanted them to experience it, everybody thought it was well done....far better than disappointing Nemo ride @ Epcot imo.

I would've been satisifed w/1 day @ DCA, family wanted to return 2nd day for Toy Story & Ca Screamin. I really liked the old-skool zephyr (sp?) ride, remember it from local park many years ago. Embarrassed to admit we couldn't find the entrance to grizzly run:confused: , not really in mood to get soaked...didn't look too hard lol. Didn't think TOT was quick on par with the WDW version, still fun & DS finally rode it:yay: . LUVED Alladin show!!!

Tom Sawyer island was much better than the WDW version, not sure if we managed to find all the secrets...just missed the pirate show. Got a kick out of this:

My sailor DH enjoyed exploring the Columbia too

We had dinner @ Goofy's Kitchen, great charactar interation as we sat near the door where they entered;) , ESPN & Rainforest Cafe (on the roof, nice breeze in the evening & food was better here than @ any of the other RFC that we've tried) & Blue Bayou:banana: . Lunch @ Bear Country, sat downstairs by river, Pizza Om/Burger Invasion & turkey legs washed down with a dole whip or two:goodvibes

So you went on the DVC tour? What are they selling now? Still SSR and AKV? BLT? Any hints as to when they are going to sell GCV?

sure, we drove from Vegas around 10 am, stopping @ Hoover Dam. Decided to take the tour (took longer than indicated, still glad we did-interesting); then back on the road to drive to Grand Canyon south rim. Entire road time was supposed to be 5 hours...we ran into heavy truck traffic throughout the day & construction on road heading north to rim from Williams. Took almost 6 hours from Hoover Dam, almost missed sunset.

Booked view room onsite beginning of the year @ thunderbird lodge, well worth it imo.:thumbsup2 view from the room

basically, we watched the sunset; then went to lounge for some grub & cr ashed. Back up in the am for sunrise, awe-inspiring. will post some pics in trip report soon. Walked partially down the trail where the mules trek, then took drive east on rim to watch tower stopping @ different vantage points on the way. Left the area around 11:30 am & tried different route to Flagstaff. Highly recommend, great drive along gorge, less traffic & far quicker drive back to vegas.

Guide told me they had just opened the new GCV models beginning of July.

Very elegant & luxe:thumbsup2 , guide didn't have the sq footage:confused3 both studio & 1 BR seemed wider than the other DVC units i've seen.

i didn't ask what they were selling;) , last i heard it was SSR & AKV-although i was told previously that some AKV UYs wer sold out...i believe our's is - October? not sure though, as i just read it on message board somewhere & didn't cofirm w/my guide.

I asked when the sale for both GCV & BLT (stoopid name imo). I was told "soon" re GCV & was told that BLT has not been designated as DVC.:rolleyes1 will say that a couple guides i did talk to @ DL told me they had to move their vacations up to June due to big announcement(s) this summer.

Wow... Thanks for the heads up... I'd be surprised if BLT is not DVC... It seems that is all they are building lately... Then again, it's been a long time since they opened a new moderate or deluxe non DVC hotel in WDW. But a DVC in walking distance to MK would be cool!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info, and I LOVED the pic! Thanks!

Glad you had a good time at "our" place ;)
It's really great to see where the magic started and how much it has grown (WDW, DLP, DLHK, TDS).

Glad we worked in the Billy Hill show too. Not C&W fans, thought it would be corny mess...really a good time & nice break from the heat in the afternoon with a cold drink or ice cream.

Yay!!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the Billys! This is my favorite thing to do in any Disney park. :cool1:
