Its been 7 years for me EXACTLY this day (16 April). I have had a few laughs and lots of fun. I now find myself in the "odd" position of wanting to settle down but not wanting to settle. Ah well. This thread is not about me. Dave, what I did mean was enjoy your new life.

Don't be afraid to get out there and try new things, explore the world and your options and whatever interests you. Just be sane about it.

It gets better when you want it to get better...when you're ready for it to get better...it doesn't all happen overnight. That was my biggest mistake. When it was done, I thought it was going to be like turning on a light switch or something...let the good times roll! Like most things in life, however, it was a process that took time, one that had some bumps and bruises and "OMG what did I DO!" moments along the way.

I totally agree with this....my divorce is not done yet but its been such a LONG process. We have been apart for years, gone back and forth and just recently I have started feeling better about things. I do have my moments, the bumps, bruises and falls. I just keep telling myself that this is just the beginning of good things to come and that I am the only one who can make it better!!

My son is doing fine. I put on a pretty good front when I am with him. His mother has moved on and has my replacement already. It really bloodied my nose. Imagine, you do everything for someone and you end up replaced and alone. It is super de dooper!

Yeah Dave, it happens. It sucks. But each day it will get a little bit easier if you let it. Can't hold on to the bad feelings, gotta let them go and look forward with a positive attitude.

Dude- I am right there with you. I split from my wife about a year ago (altho in our case it's been a very good, healthy, happy split for the most part...it was something we both needed to do) BUT yeah man, she was never a fellow Disney lover or a fellow geek. Great lady, for sure but totally: next woman I hook up with does not need to be just like me but yes, she needs to be into at least a good % of things I am into, and that includes love of the Disney theme parks!

I am my DH's second wife. His first wife moved on after 5 years with him. She was tall, lean, dark headed, very quiet and could cook a mean streak--but wasn't a good lover......then he met me, short, pooh-sized, blonde, would talk to a brick wall if I thought it would listen, can't cook anything.....but man am I a lover......any who... I really had trouble our first year of marriage becasue I was comparing myself and our relationship to theirs. Finally one day he was fed up with it and he said, I qoute "you both are the difference between night and day....and I love being with the Night (me)".....how cool is that.

I am just joining this thread and I don't know what hell you have been through. I know there is someone for everyone and you will find that person. My husband did......and we love each other and Disney even more 15 years later. Best of luck to you as you heal your heart.

I'm also 'late to the party' but some of the others on here know me (just say margaritas! and they'll know who you mean...lol!). Just wanted to add my bittersweet congrats. It's a rollercoaster, and you're nowhere near done yet, but every day gets a bit better, even the bad days.

I met this crazy bunch when I went solo last May, my 'ripping off the bandaid' 'first trip to Disney without the ex' trip after my separation (divorce was final last October) and they were really instrumental in my healing. You are so right...this is a really great place full of awesome people who really live up to the true meaning of 'Disney Magic' in everything they do. I am priveleged to know some of them, and even if we live all over the world, we always have the 'World'!

We're all here for eachother, and you are more than welcome to lean on us anytime!
