Clarabelle,
I can understand how you got in your situation of buying points without much awareness of your husband. Although my dh called me out of the blue to tell me to buy the points, we got very, very distracted while our visitors were here, and never had a chance to talk about the fact that I had bought the points on my way to the airport to pick up friends!
When I mentioned it the other day, he was surprised it had happened so fast.
DVC has made it soooo very easy to buy points that there is just no drama to it. It's almost a non-issue when it happens. One minute you are saying you want to buy points and then next you are finally getting to press Bernard's speed dial code on your phone, and then voila! It's done.
So I can understand you buying the points and not saying anything, and then it being a surprise to DH. That could definitely be a scenario in our house. DVC has figured out how to "silently suck us in."
If you were buying the points resale non DVC, your husband would have been very aware as you waited for ROFR, looked on the web for the very best package, etc. etc. I think buying resale through other agencies other than disney would be much more climactic. (I better stop thinking about the rush I'd get from that! Bad thoughts! Bad!)
Anyway, congratulations on your new purchase, and have fun on your trip!
