Have to complete "wrapping" presents this weekend which I am DREADING! So glad there are gift bags to make life easier! Who else is on the gift bag bandwagon?

:thumbsup2 Except they are EXPENSIVE this year. I stupidly didn't go to the dollar store for them. I went to partycity and was horrified at the prices. Not horrified enough to make a trip to the dollar store though:lmao:

Yep -- I wrapped most of the presents about 2 weeks ago, but now that my last few gifts are coming in, I seem to have more and more gift bags showing up under my tree :lmao:.

I just can't bring myself to wrap anything else, so all of the "straggler" gifts are definitely going into gift bags. I picked up a lot of gift bags from the Dollar Tree at the end of November, but I think I'm going to have to stop in to buy some more!

I think I'm about the only person around who doesn't like gift bags:lmao:

I LIKE wrapping presents. I don't like giving things in gift bags because it seems to me that you lose the whole unwrapping thing, not too much drama and anticipation in reaching into the bag and pulling the gift out after taking a tissue off the top....but thats just me.

Besides that, Gift bags make it too easy for the kids to peek!

I'm usually the 'everything matches' type You know tissue has to match the wrapping and bow and name tag and they all have to be appropriate to the recipient. Last year I even had all of my gift wrap match each other, it looked really nice. This year however I have two kittens, BOY kittens who are in the teenager phase. SO this year No bows or ribbons or string of any kind, just bags with the tissue and handles tucked inside, even then the 10 month old has already jumped in the middle of a big gift bag! They're really trying to "cure" my OCD !

I hate wrapping. Hate it. My presents look like a 5 year old wrapped it. All bulging and taped extensively to hold the mess in place.

I hate spending money on the paper, or tags. My immediate family gets:

TO: (whoever)
FROM: Cat/Mom

....in big black permanent marker across the present.

On birthdays, again for immediate family, I've done the "Close your eyes" and just put it on their lap.

I've used newspaper before too. Ghetto-Fabulous Gifts. :rotfl2: I hate wrapping. :headache:

Several years ago, I was so anal about my gifts. Everything had beautiful, hand-tied, wire-edged bows. Beads, tinsel, all sorts of sparkly, dangly ornaments. It was beautiful. Then I ended up in physical therapy with severe tendinitis. Oh, yeah. I love the gift bags. I do typically wrap the items in the bag with some tissue paper and tape, but they aren't "pretty" by any means. I also have converted to stick on bows. I get pretty name tags, and I live with it. Oh, and I also get the pre-printed Santa or Snowmen gift boxes. Put gift in box, tape, add gift tag and done!

Tendinitis hurts.

I'm not a gift bag fan except for difficult to wrap presents. I don't really like to wrap but I like how wrapped presents look and I also like watching them being unwrapped. :thumbsup2

Oh and the paper has to match the tree. We have a blue and silver (with purple accents) tree so all presents are wrapped in blue and sliver and purple paper. The upstairs tree has all of the family and non-blue/silver/purple ornaments on it but no presents go under it.

I don't prefer gift bags either. It seems to take away from the gift to just throw it in a bag and not give any care to its presentation.

However, I do make and grant exceptions. Like the PP who has a physical issue with wrapping. Gift bags are ok in that case.

We also had to travel with a gift which had to be left unwrapped for security at the airport. It made much more sense to bring a much more easily packed gift bag rather than gift wrap, scissors (those wouldn't fly with TSA either), tape, etc.

I'm not into gift bags all that much, I kind of enjoy wrapping presents actually.

I got everything wrapped on Monday, at the table in the family room while I watched/listened to Christmas movies. Only two things went into gift bags and only because they were "odd shaped" so it was easier to bag 'em than it would have been to wrap 'em.

I do the cloth bags and LOVE them! I have gift boxes, bags, and cloth bags, I reuse EVERY year.To me that is more important so I choose to do it this way...:cool1:

I do a mixture of bags and wrapped gifts.

If you hit places like Michael's, Target, ect after Christmas you can get really nice gift bags for 50-75% off. I"m lucky because a co-worker's wife works for Hallmark so he brings in boxes and boxes of paper, bows, bags, ect so I get a lot of mine for free.

But I did hit the motherload at Michael's last year - they were selling stuff fo r80-90% off and I got some really nice ribbons and bags.

I wrap "square" things :) I love to wrap but there are a lot of times where my patience can't handle it. I LOOVE gift bags! :lovestruc And we have Christmas Tree Shops where we can get a bazillion different gift bags at really really good prices! :thumbsup2

DD and I were talking about this the other day while wrapping.. Once DGD goes off to college, we'll be going the gift bag route here - preferably purchased in the Dollar Store or at the after Christmas sales..:thumbsup2

If DGD has children, then it will be back to wrapping again..:lovestruc

We were "almost" going to try to do more gift bags than wrapping this year - until I overheard DGD and her best friend saying that the most exciting part of Christmas morning was ripping the wrapping paper off the gifts and how gift bags "just aren't fun".. Dang! Foiled for now..:rotfl:

I also do a mixture of both wrapped and gift bags. Mostly the oddly shaped gifts go in the gift bag! Easier that way!

I hate wrapping presents. I am no good at it, they look awful. Now if it doesnt go in a gift bag, you are not getting it for a present. I even put my dogs gifts in a gift bag.

I use gift bags some. I really like decorated gift boxes. That's my favorite thing to use. Add a little tissue paper, a big bow, and they look really nice. I bought some jeans for Christmas presents this year. Didn't want to wrap those at all. I bought a few huge red stockings at the dollar tree, and I'm putting the jeans at the toe (maybe in a decorated bag) and I'll fill it with some candy and fun stuff.

You are not alone. No gift bags allowed in this house. They are joy stealers. LOL! We don't like that they aren't as "fun" to open as paper so we wrap everything all the way down to the stocking stuffers, no matter how big or oddly shaped!

When my mom got up there in years - with her arthritis and such - she always used the decorated boxes.. I forgot all about them until you just mentioned it..

That could be another "option" when DGD goes off to college and we decide to "gift bag it"..:thumbsup2
