Does any one have information on this test. My husband will have it June 16th. He has a heart murmur and on the echocardiogram it shows a mitral valve prolapse. Now they want to do this test.

No information, but hope all goes well for you husband. My niece and her husband are ASL interpreters, and I would love to share your tag with them. Would you be offended?

Thallium was one of the radioactive dyes that they injected into my IV when I had a Nuclear Stress Test last summer. That, and Isotopes was used. It allows them to see all the chambers and valves working using a special machine. (at least that's my understanding of the test)

Is that what he is having done?

Don't know about that test, Lisa, but I do have that mitral valve prolapse, nothing of consequence, at least for me. My best to your hubby, he will be in my prayers for then. Let us know how it goes.

Dan thanks for the prayers. They are always comforting

Doxology thanks for the link.

Meand the guys please feel free to share the tag. I am an ASL interpreter myself (relatively new). The DEAF refers to the DEAF community not that I am deaf. I am hard of hearing and use hearing aids when working to remedy that. Rest of the time I prefer to forego the aids and speechread.

Blondie I think they are checking to see how much the valve is leaking. He has had this since birth according to the doctors. He wears the Holter monitor next week for 24 hours.

Both my dad and FIL have had this, dad as follow-up to anigoplasty w/stents and FIL to quintuple bypass. In their cases it was to check blood flow theough the stents/bypasses, I would assume in your DH's case they are looking to see the valves in action so to speak. I know my dad mentioned that the dye stung a bit as they injected it but nothing terrible. I believe they do a 'regular' stress test first, or at least some time on the bike/treadmill before injecting. And I think I remember a 3-4 hour wait before they could go home?

Talking Hands, I hope your husband's Thallium Test goes well.

Doxdogy, thank you for posting that website. It's just what I need to convince a loved one to seek help!
