T'giving vs. June

Right now we are booked at SSR for T'giving 2008 - not my first choice of times to go, but we're going with friends who refuse to take their kids out of school to go at a less-crowded time. Which got me to thinking about summer. We've never done WDW in the summer - would early June crowds (like the second week of June) be any worse/better than T'giving crowds?

We have almost always gone in early June. A few of our trips were mid-June, but probably about 6 or 7 trips were early June. I've never been at Thanksgiving, so I can't make an actual comparison, but we've found early June to be crowded, but certainly do-able. We take advantage of early entries and stay in the parks until noon or so. We come back to the villas for rest and swimming and usually are ready to be back in the parks by 6:00 p.m. We've always been able to do all the rides we wanted using fast passes and having a plan. The hours after June 1st have usually been extended so the MK is usually open a little later. Friends of mine went Thanksgiving week once and said they'd never go again. The wait time was long and it was very crowded. We do so much advance planning. My DH figures out which park is open early/late, checks trends in attendance and makes a plan for us to follow. We think advanced planning makes the trip much better.

Anyone who has been both times that could compare?

I agree - advance planning makes ALL the difference!

We've only been there Thanksgiving Week (Saturday-Friday) and have really enjoyed the decorations and holiday parades. The weather is nice (not humid) and for more than half the time, it isn't that crowded. Wednesday and Thursday get very crowded, but we just enjoy ourselves. It is a great time to be there, so we are going this year! Yay :cheer2: !

For me, I consider the humidity as the determining factor. It's oppressive even in June. Granted, it gets worse as the summer goes on, but even in June it is down right miserable. Going in November is such a nice change for most people who are coming from the cold areas. The weather is so pleasant; really enjoyable. I have friends who are trying to make the same decision that you are and I've so advised them to go with the winter vs. summer. The weather for us makes all the difference! Good luck! If you go in November, maybe we'll see you there!! :)

We have done both. I honestly find Thanksgiving time better. We found the crowds in early June to be slightly lower but it was unbelievably hot and humid so once noon time came we had to go back to our room to cool down. Basically there may be a few less people in June but it seems like we are able to get so much more done at Thanksgiving because of the great weather. We weren't so worn out from the heat. The atmosphere during Thanksgiving is also so much nicer. The christmas decorations are up and the shows such as Candlelight Processional and MVMCP are great. I really like Thanksgiving time the best. It is our favorite time of year. That being said, we are going in July:scared1: (even hotter than June!)this year for DD's 13th birthday and I'm not looking forward to it. This is all just my humble opinion but I would stick with Thanksgiving.

What momofthreepoohlovers said. Except for the part about going in July this year. We have vowed NEVER to go in the summer again. The crowds are about as high and the heat and humidity are horrendous.

We have gone the last 10 Thanksgivings. Each year seems to be a little more crowded (the secret about the great weather is out) but the summer is just not an option for us. We were miserable.
