TGIF riddle

Sure, it will keep me from cleaning my oven :rolleyes1

All righty, something to help keep this thread moving.......

A story about DS.

The other day, DS went outside and was in the kennels playing with the dogs. He stubbed his toe. Since his foot hurt, he was hopping around and lost his ballance. He hit his head on some packed snow and ice. He came in the house limping. I had him sit in my lp so I could investigate his injuries. (No open wounds or goose eggs :)) I asked him, "Son, you a bit of a klutz, huh?" He responded "Nope, I'm a frickin train wreck!" I was laughing so hard I couldn't reprimand him for using a bad word.

3 days later, he twisted his ankle....... I have to agree, he's a train wreck.

:lmao: :lmao: Cute story!!!! So what are you up to today?

I just spent an hour playing with my profile and homepage. I have to go to a meeting for the Ren Faire this afternoon and I want to get some cleaning and scrapbooking done this evening.

We're going to NC later this week and my sis is pet/house sitting. I try to get things as clean as possible for her. My room is a mess right now since I never found homes for all the goodies I brought back from my trip. It's been 6 weeks and I still have stuff in my suitcase. :rolleyes1

DH is trying to find a movie to watch, which will further distract me from geting anything done today.

It's a renaissance faire where people celebrate and recreate the middle ages. We dress in costumes, have authentic food, watch jousts and have a ton of fun. I'm on the planning commitee, in the education department. Our faire is a bit different from most of the others since it is part of a cultural exchange between the city of Fishers, IN and Billericay England. It's a lot of work but it's so much fun to see everything come together in the end.

I'll have to upload last years pix to photobucket. Right now all my pix are on DH's laptop and he's using it.

So what do you dress up as and do you do any specific task?

I have 5 or 6 different costumes. I have a wench costume with a steel boned bodice that laces and pushes every thing up and out. The rest of my costumes are middle class, non-nobility or merchant wear. I don't play a specific person from history.

As far as what I do; I love the backstage aspects of theatre, so even though I dress up and do a bit of acting; my main passion is the planning. I get to help decide what goes into our education pavilion and I'll work on the scholar's guide pamphlet with historic questions for kids to find the answers to. I get to work with the full time re-enactors who do the educational presentations and hands on learning areas.

I am a huge fantasy sword and socery fan. My favorite books have a medieval theme and the charaters have magical abilities. It's a wonder I'm also a Disney fan, it's so easy to get wrapped up in the magic and to suspend reality for a while.

Thats really cool!! Does your DH participate as well?

It's a family affair. All 5 of us have costumes and do different things. We go to several faires and other events a year and take in sci-fi conventions as well so we are pretty imersed in it.

Our trip next weekend is to a really small convention that we've been going to for quitea while. We get to meet a lot of well known authors and some lesser known artists. It's a great time and there's always fun to be had.

I know a lot of people think we're strange and some even group us in with the goth teens that you see running around but we're not living abnormal lives. We don't do soccer or baseball, this is our big family activity. We still have dinner together almost every night, we take in an occasional movie and go to the mall together.

Our kids are homeschooled so a lot of what we do is as a family. We've always taken our kids out with us and taught them how to behave. They get to do quite a few things where they are the only children present. We also seem to have incredable luck when it comes to a lot of the activities we plan. We get lots of background and behind the scene info just by talking and being interested in what ever program of event we're taking in. We got 2 hours alone and got a guided tour by a zookeeper a few years ago when we went to a class at the zoo. The other families felt like doingthe scavenger hunt on their own so the five of us had the undivided attention of the keeper who taught the class.

I don't think its strange, but some say I am not the sharpest tool in the shed ;) How old are your kids?

The young'ins are half grown. The girls are 14 and 12 1/2 and the boy is 11. It's funny, I was mostly ok thinking about my oldest being a teenager but it really hit me harder when I had to say my baby was 10. :confused3 I guess it was because we moved out of the 'child' phase and all of them are 'young adults.' (And they can't eat off the kid's menus at most places anymore......)

Gotta run, BBL. :cool1:

Have fun!! It was nice chatting with you!

Do you guys travel? There is a King Richard's Faire that we attend annually but it is only here for a few weeks in the fall. It is a lot of fun.

Angel, what were you doing here at 3:37am?

Were you keeping Donna up so she didn't miss her early flight;)

We generally only do day trips. We have pets that need to be taken care of and it's hard finding someone willing to petsit the number of animals we have. I'd love to do more traveling but it gets costly and I can't take off Fri and Mon too much or my boss gets really mad.

We have never worked at one. We are just day guests. It must be a lot of fun. My DD is into acting and would love to do it but the one near us is an hour away so until she gets her drivers liscence it isnt going to happen.
It looks like I killed another riddle.

I'll put it to bed. I thought it would be fun to have 400 posts, but it's just not going to happen. Oh well.

I'll look in the am for Monday's riddle. Hopefully I can solve it before I have to go to work.
