Texting in theater

That's so stupid. Why is texting going to bother someone? Put the phone on silent so there aren't any beeps, what's the big deal?

HILARIOUS! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that. Now come on now, all the theaters I go to in my area, even have a commercial about no texting and then again with a voice thing along with a sign on the screen says turn off your phone.

I dont want to see anyone's light from their phones, either watch the movie or get out. this ain't a rock concert where it would be approriate to wave some light around.

because it lights up when you text so it does bother others in a dark theater

I like this! I hardly ever go to movies anymore because so many people seem to think that it is fine to text, but I truly find the small glowing screens really annoying so I just wait for it to come out on Netflix.

That's what I can't figure out! This has been a huge story on Facebook today (I have a lot of entertainment sites on my feed) and I just don't get it :confused3

Obviously, talking on your cell phone is annoying. But I can't for the life of me figure out why texting is bad. It's not like you're gonna cause an accident

Oh, I guess I don't text enough, I didn't think of the light being annoying.

I was at the movies last week and someone on the other side of the aisle kept pulling out their phone. The light from the screen was distracting. I don't think some people realize this. I see it as unintentional rudeness.

Really?! I go to the movies AT LEAST once a week... and have never noticed this!

When the "no talking or texting" message comes up on the screen, I just figured they were referring to the sound effects.

The light is very distracting and annoying in a darkened theater.

Brilliant!! Absolutely brilliant! I so wish we had this theatre chain in So Cal!

Just another case of people feeling so self important and also addicted to gadgets. I mean really, you have to text during a movie. NEWS FLASH: YOu aren't that important. True there could be an emergency, if there is, you go outside and call. There is no reason what so ever to text during a movie. I swear, people need to get over their phones, computers, FB Twitter and get on with life.

If I get a call I have to answer, I leave the theater and go into the hallway.

Seriously? It happens EVERY time I go to the movies. People pull out their phone and start texting, so that bright screen lights up and immediately distracts me, pulling me out of the movie. Not cool.

And, honestly, why do people go to the movies if all they're going to do is text? Why pay money to not watch a movie? And what on Earth is so important that they have to text in the middle of a dark movie theatre? I guess it must be the same Earth-shatteringly vital things that people have to text about when they're driving...

Because those folks "think" they're way more important than they really are.

Seriously? It's annoying and distracting and rude, that's what the big deal is.

The last movie I went to (probably a couple of years ago now) at the theater there were only two other people in there besides myself. I was near the back, a guy by himself was near the front, and the girl was in front of me a few rows down and to my right. She texted the entire time. Not just for a minute or two. The entire movie. If I was a confrontational person I would have asked her why she bothered coming to the movie. :confused3 I tried to ignore it, but the light was distracting.

People texting, talking on their cell phones, and talking to each other are the main reasons I no longer go to the theater to see a movie. I don't care to pay for the ticket and high priced popcorn and then have to put up with rude people too.

I prefer to wait until they come out on Netflix and watch at home.

You know I always ponder when there are tween or teenage girls sitting together: are they texting each other as they watch the movie and they don't want to be "rude" and talk?

One time, there were teenagers and one told the other one before the show started, I just texted him that we are in here. i'm going to text him where we are sitting:rotfl2: ok, not many people there yet and the lights are on.:rotfl2:
