So today at lunch break, the princable comes to me and said this, "Mrs.Smith your meternity leave starts October 1st. Am I correct?" Me: "Yes." Princable: "Um, I also have another question for you, did you hand out your students textbooks?" Me: "Um, textbooks. What textbooks." Princable: "The ones that are in your classroom." Me: "Oh, those textbooks. I didn't know that those were for my class." Princable: "Well, they are." So I'm really confused. We never had this rule before. And, giving Kindergarteners textbooks? :confused3  What do you guys have to say. I'm really upset w/ the school system. :( :snooty:

I'm really upset with the school system and the entire educational process but for different reasons. Maybe you should talk to the principal about the kindergarten students and your maternity leave.

I'm upset with your school too. For reasons that have been pointed out already by other posters.

I'm sorry but I don't see the problem. Why don't you just hand out the new textbooks? :confused3

I'm sorry it upset you though.

Are you a teacher or a teacher's assistant? Is this a public school? Why does it bother you that your principal wanted you to hand out your students' textbooks before your maternity leave? I don't understand the problem with that part. I'm sorry you were upset, though.

First time I have seen a "teacher" upset about the school providing books for the students . Usually it is the other way around.

As a teacher, I was very confused about your post about your (teacher) husband going on vacation for 2 weeks during the start of school and I'm very confused by this post, as well. Actually more concerned than confused. You should both be careful because behavior like that could lead to job loss.

As a teacher, that is my concern for YOU, especially with a baby on the way.

Other people who read this thread, as parents, might have OTHER concerns....

skipping all the other obvious things that have been pointed out and getting straight to - How the heck did you have a stack of books in your room that you didn't know what they were or why they were there and not FIND out?
I find that very hard to believe or even want to believe.

I guess you aren't teaching to the curriculum if you didn't even know there were textbooks.

The rule people, quote the first post.

Where do you teach? Is it in the US?

:lmao::lmao:

I'm confused already. Don't even know what the real issue or question is.

Did I miss something somewhere?

I am confused about all of it too!

I think she's concerned that the school wants her to give text books to Kindergarten students.

My daughter never was issued ANY text book until at least 3rd grade. They all just were in teh classroom and the kids used them when necessary, they never went home.

That makes sense.

But as a teacher, I feel like you should know the curriculum that the district has in place.

Unless the problem is that the OP wasn't TOLD by the administrators that these textbooks were part of the kindergarten program. :confused3

We are trained when a new program or new materials are introduced OR, if the OP is new to the district, she should have been informed of the programs and materials by either her principal (before the start of the school year!) or a mentor/colleague.

I think we need some more information!!
