Textbooks

My kids both had books that were part of the curriculum in kindergarten. Is it that unusual to use texts in school?

Meternity: Leaving your vehicle at a parking meter for an extended period of time.

Are you a teacher or a teacher's assistant? Is this a public school? Why does it bother you that your principal wanted you to hand out your students' textbooks before your maternity leave? I don't understand the problem with that part. I'm sorry you were upset, though.

I just thought that maybe Kindergarteners are a little to young to handle textbooks.

skipping all the other obvious things that have been pointed out and getting straight to - How the heck did you have a stack of books in your room that you didn't know what they were or why they were there and not FIND out?
I find that very hard to believe or even want to believe.

I guess you aren't teaching to the curriculum if you didn't even know there were textbooks.

No, I knew that they were textbooks.

I've already handed them out. I was just concerned about the way that the kids would treat the books. :goodvibes I sent a letter home saying "Oh, your child is bringing home this textbook bla bla bla."

I guess it depends on the textbooks. I haven't worked very much with kindergarten kids, but I have done activities with them using books. Obviously they couldn't handle typical textbooks aimed at older grades but I'm sure it would be possible to come up with one that they could use. I'm surprised you hadn't been informed of the curriculum before the school year started, though, so you could prepare for it. Is this your first year at that school?

ETA -I see you're concerned about the kids caring for the books. Don't kindergarten kids at your school get to check out library books? I don't think I'd worry any more about them mistreating textbooks than the library books.

Please tell me you didn't mention the "princable" in the letter?

Oh so you ARE using them? But you said in your original post that you didn't know they were for your class. Now you are saying you handed them out AND sent home a letter to the parents. :confused3

I could understand you not wanting to send the books home with your students! In my school, all textbooks are used in class only! They don't bring textbooks home until 4th grade!

I agree that Kindergarteners are a little TOO young to handle textbooks.
If you are really a teacher I will weep into my keyboard. This absolutely must be a joke. You're not going to even acknowledge your gross misspellings of such common words?

Is that definition according to Jeff Foxworthy or Larry the Cable Guy? :rotfl2:
No, it's Rich somebody. I'll think of his name. Back in the nineties, he had a whole act and a series of books on "skewed" words and their meanings. Tall, shaggy but neat brown hair... Rich Hall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Were they spelling text books?? :rotfl2:

Dang! You beat me to it!

Please tell me you didn't mention the "princable" in the letter?

Or that she didn't mention her meternity leave.....

Will your weeping cause as much damage to your keyboard as me spewing Coke on to mine? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Now I'm off to take a whiff of my inhaler, as I'm having an asthma attack in reaction to this thread.
