Texas Woman strikes oil... In her bathroom!!!

Poor Leila LeTourneau. Seems her house might have been build on top of an improperly capped oil well that decided to go active again. This should be an interesting homeowners insurance claim.

The crappy thing is is that even if it is a significant amount of oil, someone else probably owns the rights to it.

I am not a lawyer but...I'd think if it was on HER land she would own the rights to the oil. DH owns land in OK (passed down from his grandfather) and though someone else actually mines it, we get small royalty checks from it every so often because he owns it and therefore is entitled to a percentage of the profits. She may have to move and pay somebody to tear down the house to mine the oil, but she'll probably get some money from it, I'd think. YMMV.
