Texas to open 100%

I was referring to the President, yes. What the President says, any President says, matters- as the events of January 6th taught us all too well.
I wouldn’t be too sure of that. We live in a severely divided country. Approximately 50% of this country will always be predisposed to argue with whatever point any acting president says.

And here I was thinking this was common in every other state. Lol This is a part of our childhood here in Texas.

They would never allow a pledge in the Seattle School district to include "under god" in it. They would first spend the next 5 years doing studies to ensure that every single religious group, no matter how minor, was included and then work with them to get their preferred language into the pledge. By they time they were done the pledge would exceed the length of War and Peace and take half of the school day to recite. :)

How quickly people are willing to give up freedom to feel a little safer, whether they actually are or not. Wishing for a system of rule that doesn’t exist to compel people to do what they think is right. You would think that the dangers of that thought would be plain enough, but I see it all too often that I think we have much bigger problems.

As I’ve stated before, I’m residing in a country surrounded by other countries where they do have that power, and guess what, we are no better off. In fact, starting Monday, we will be under further restrictions. Be careful what you wish for.

Googled Mask mandate and found out that currently 15 states do not have a mask mandate (that does not mean individual counties within these states have mask mandates). There are 6 additional states where the mask mandate will end in March (this includes Texas)--it is possible that several of those states will extend their mandates. This is just for those who are curious, not going to comment on what I think but anyone who has read my posts over time can pretty much guess how I feel.

Speaking of freedom.... I am amazed how many freedom loving Americans are willing to buy a house in a subdivision with a HOA. Those boards are totally unaccountable to any government agency and are frequently filled with people with Napoleonic complexes.

When I see people walking in public, alone, wearing masks, without a person within at least 1,000 feet of them, or wearing a mask, alone in their car, I now know that the human mind can be easily manipulated.
You really never know. I went for some walks this winter when it was quite cold out. First time I was like, I'm pretty warm but I wish there was something I could do for my face. LOL. I went home and made a nice soft flannel face mask for my next cold weather walk.

Anybody who has an issue with Texas removing state-wide COVID mandates should not travel to Texas. Same for other states that have done the same. It's pretty simple.
If you assume no one from Texas will be traveling outside of the State and if you have no family members that live there then it is pretty simple. 😂

Exactly. What I don't get is why some dictators in other countries crack down so hard to remain in power. All you need to do is control the media and you can get the vast majority of the population to believe anything.

I don't think the cultures in other countries are as willing to be told what to do without a stick being waved at them. Americans are comfortable and don't want to rock the boat. For example, the response to the lockdown would have been very different without Netflix + a comfy couch + UberEats.

I'm not assuming anything.

Anybody anywhere in the US right now has the freedom to continue quarantining themselves and staying away from people. As for us, we're doing a cross-country road trip early this summer going through AZ, NM, TX, Mississippi, LA, Alabama, and Florida. We'll pay attention to and follow the local & state requirements. If a business has a sign that says a mask is required, we'll follow those rules. And when we get back home from the trip, we'll stay away from everybody else for 10 days.

Agreed. So many people manipulated. Just wear your mask when within the plausible range for an airborne virus to be transmitted. And the others that are manipulated into believing it is not easily transmitted. You make a very good point. I’m with you.

Sorry. I was being sarcastic. No one has to assume that Texans will be traveling to other states. Also, no one needs to assume that many of us have relatives in Texas. Just saying it’s not as simple as not going to Texas.
