Willie Nelson has sent greetings and gifts to the 51 runaway state House Democrats.

Fifty-five of the Democrats have been absent from the House all week, denying the body a quorum and bringing House business to a standstill.

Fifty-one are holed up at the Holiday Inn in Ardmore, Oklahoma, about 30 miles north of the Texas border and beyond the authority of Texas law enforcement.

A few of the Democrats say they've received red bandannas, whiskey and a note from the Texas singer, who wrote "Way to go. Stand your ground." The lawmakers wore the bandannas yesterday.

The Democrats are protesting a Republican-backed congressional redistricting bill that would increase the number of G-O-P-dominated districts at the Democrats' expense.
