My friends mum checked him over and said everything seemed fine so I took him out for a gentle walk and trot ride with my friend and he seemed to be alright.

Yeh all my poor friend had all day was he CAN'T be lame he has to keep his fitness up! He can't afford time off! xD
I have this obsession with my horses fitness levels. He's amazingly fit, his muscles are hard as rock. He's not overworked though I would never allow that.
