Test your "obscure WDW restaurant" knowledge!

Crockett's Tavern still exists at FW, only the menu has changed.

Does anyone else remember the "Handwich" (kind of like a cross between a cheesesteak and an ice cream cone) they used to serve at the Land Farmer's Market?

How about Hook's Tavern at MK? It was a drink stand next to Peter Pan's Flight. Now it's the Pan Fastpass Distribution area.

I have a photo of my brother, my grandparents and I eating in the Oddyssey Restaurant back in 87.

I can remember eating at the Stargate restaurant after visiting "Backstage Magic" at Epcot Computer Central with my parents back in 91.

I've not been able to access the DIS since Monday:D so sorry to be so late answering but you're right Erikthewise. Town Square Cafe was located where Tony's is now. Seems like the same general decor, too.

Steve, I remember reading of the handwiches but never tried one. Were they good?

I don't remember if they were any good... All I know is that I had one during my first visit at age 7 and again on my second visit at age 12... and that I was very impressed with the novelty of meat in a bread cone...

I know that Victoria and Albert's is supposed to be wonderful, but we really enjoyed our 5th anniversary dinner at the Empress Room. We had a character breakfast on the Empress Lily, too. (1995)

Although it just changed over last year, no one has mentioned the Captain's Tavern, which is now Shutter's at the Caribbean Beach Club.

Also, the Outer Rim is still at the Contemporary, overlooking Bay Lake. It is more in the form of a cocktail lounge. It opens at 12 noon and begins serving sandwiches, etc at 2 pm. It is the only full service bar, that isn't a pool bar within proximity of the MK that opens before 4:30 pm.

How about Diamond Horseshoe Review in the MK????

Wasn't the Garden Grill also the name of the resturaunt at what is now the Shades of Green?

I'm thinking the place at the Disney Inn was the Garden Gallery or the Garden Galley. (My old notes have the former.) Anyone with a Birnbaum's guide from '93 or earlier could check this out. (My old ones are at home at the moment.)

This was the first place I ever ate at WDW, the first time I ever drove onto the property. (I was in Orlando on business, and scheduled to stay at WDW a week later. But I took a day off early in the week and drove down to explore WDW - drove all over the place visiting resorts, back when there were no security gates.

And I'm glad someone added the Sunshine Terrace - this was THE best smelling place in all of WDW.

I remember in 1985, when I was a teenager, we stayed at the Contemporary. They had a buffet-style restaurant right under the monorail that served Italian food. Does anyone remember the name of the restaurant? I want to say that it had the word "buffeteria" in the name.

Checked my 1985 Birnbaum and at that point the restaurant was called the Trophy Room but the resort itself was still the Golf Resort. Perhaps both names changed at once.

Yes, that was called the Terrace Buffeteria. It was a character breakfast and an Italian buffet at dinner. We did the breakfast once but never tried dinner. It's now known as Chef Mickey's.:D

Remember the Odyssey restaurant at Epcot???

I also really liked Juan & Only's. We had a lunch there during a business meeting in 1997 at the Dolphin and it was great.

I remember the kiosks inside Spaceship Earth, too. I wish they still had them. I thought it was really neat.

Someone mentioned Fireworks Factory. That was one of my faves. Ate there in 90 (I think) when my mom took us the "World Adventure" or Gold Key plan. Come to think of it, several of the restraunts we ate at then are closed. (Top of the World).

I also remember tea being at the pub in UK, rather than at the GF. I liked it better there. I wish they would bring it back to UK or maybe offer it both places.

What year did Good Turn change to Garden Grill? I may have eaten at all three incarnations of that restraunt. First time there was '85, so I don't know.

This is a fun thread.

I think that spot at the Disney Inn was galled the Garden Gallery. WE ate there several times when we used to stay at the Poly. Would walk over along that little path they had.

Ok how about before the reservation kiosks were in the building under SE? Do any of you remember where they were located? (two places come to mind)

Found our 1994 edition of Birnbaum. It lists the Disney Inn Restaurant as the full service spot at the Disney Inn. Also had the Diamond Mine and Sand Trap Food Cart as snack spots at the Disney Inn.

It also has a Garden Grove Cafe listed for the Swan and the Garden View Lounge on the Windsor Level of the Grand Floridian.

I give up AJA55...I don't remember kiosks before the ones in Spaceship Earth.

We really miss Melvin the Moose character breakfast. We have alot of great memories of it! I remember the kazoos we were given and playing them on the boat to MK. Kind of a name that tune ride, and everyone joined in.

OK …in case anyone wants to know. The kiosks were on the left side of SE outside near the restrooms and they had a CM standing near them if you needed any help. Before that, they were free standing, unattended screens around the Innovations.

Someone else remembers the kazoos at Melvin the Moose! I remember those, and bus driver we had afterwards. After the Melvin the Moose character breakfast when we got on the internal bus at FW, the bus driver said something over the intercom about Mickey wanting all the boys and girls to hold their kazoos, but not play them on the bus. He tried to say it in a nice way, but DH and I had to laugh, it was so obvious that he dreaded driving with a busload of kids and kazoos (we had 3 of each, so I can understand how he'd be dreading it). I'll bet the bus drivers had drawn straws to see who'd get stuck with that route and he lost.
