One of the things that made our last trip so special was that my dad was able to come down and spend a week with us. Living out of the country we don't get a chance to see him very often (if we're lucky once a year) and it's usually only for a short time. So letting my kids spend a week with Grandpa at Disney was an incredible experience.
For the most part, my dad was content to just do whatever we wanted, because he was happy to be spending time with the kids, but there were a couple of attractions that he really wanted to make sure that we did, because they are his favorites. One of those rides was Test Track. It just so happens that our whole family is also wild about this ride, so as you can imagine we made sure we rode it quite a few times.
One of the things I like most about Test Track is the uniqueness of it. I mean sure, everyone loves the final mad dash around the track with the wind whipping through your hair, and the hope that your car might somehow break the track record when your speed is shown on the giant radar (hey we can hope can't we), but for me TT is so much more than just that last high speed run.
I love the way that Disney makes you feel like you are actually participating in a real test run of a car. From the bumpy roads and the hair-pin turns, to the hot and cold chambers that alternately bake and freeze you, every part of this ride is just full of unique elements that you don't find on any other ride.
Plus they have a few little surprises that make you jump the first time you experience them - like putting you in the place of the crash test dummies as you plunge full speed towards that wall, or when the headlights of that on-coming truck suddenly are staring you right in the face.
To me, TT is one of Disney's better family oriented rides because it allows the whole family to experience such incredible and unique thrills in such a way that your 10 year old daughter will find as much pleasure as will your 70 year old father.
I also think they've done a good job of making the queue interesting enough to keep you occupied so that they wait doesn't seem so bad.
About the only negative I might have about this ride is the constant breaking down it seems to be noted for. Thankfully it didn't happen to us, but I can only imaging getting stuck in the "oven" on a blistering hot day would not be a very good thing.
So what are your feelings towards TT? Is it on your "not to be missed" list of rides as well? Do you have any funny or interesting memories of riding it?

....then those doors opened....well you know the rest of the story...
....I was laughing hysterically all the time around the track thinking, "Seth would kill me"..
