my daughter is five :cheer2: when at epcot and this will be our first park we visit, she is tall enough to do test track and wondered is it usual for 5 year olds to do this ride, she does large water rides here and quite big coasters but height restrictions means she can not do as much here as in orlando and she will want to go on everything she can.so rides here i have to hold her tight to stop here being flung around but i may have to give test track a miss as i have other kids to look after :sad2:  my eldest of 19 will look after her but i am a bit apprehensive as i have never riden the test track

Test Track is not a coaster, it does have the speed test on the track outside but that is only one part of it. basically the idea of Test Track is a series of safety tests for a car, so there is a hot room, cold room, bump test etc. there is nothing too scary for a 5 year old and if she is happy with water slides and other rides she will be more than happy with this one. If it helps, my 3 year old and 5 year old rode this and loved it, :thumbsup2

My kids 4 and 5 went on this and it shook them up, but in a good way! They really enjoyed it. Its a decent ride and not too scary for lil folk!

My DD done test track the last time we went and she was 5 and she was fine on it, she really enjoyed it and she's not the bravest, bless her.

One of my DD's favourite rides of all! She's 6 now but rode it at just turned 4 and just turned 5! :thumbsup2

Just remember that is can be visually intimdating - the cars whooshing round may put your 5 y/o off!

We are going to try and get our neice on the ride but if she's scared then I won't force her (even though I know she'll probably enjoy it). Just let your LO tell you whether they want to go on or not - and just FYI, it's rather tame for adults but *some* kids might not enjoy it. Personally I love it and think most 5 y/o's will too, but I can't speak for all of them :goodvibes

I think the best way would be to let her try it, explain to her that its not scary but you may not like it, but try it anyway. If shey dont like it then you dont have to ride again, but im almosy certain she will like it. You can always bribe them, if you go on it i will get you a nice ice cream or something, it always worked for me.

My son was just shy of 5 when we went in May and Test Track was his favorite ride, we rode it 5 times!

excellent news :thumbsup2 i am now reassured she will be fine :disrocks: ,now what about the hulk at IOA :lmao: ONLY KIDDING

My DS was almost 4 when he rode it in July and he loved it - said it was like being in the car with Mummy driving - don't know what he means! It was quite bumpy and the bit outside is very fast, but he wasn't intimidated at all.

Sara. :)

Depends on the child, there are scarier rides than Test Track but we all know our own children, no way Josh would have been able to ride when he was aged 5.
Go with your instincts. ;)

My real concern is if they can get hurt by bumping their face on the front of the car with the movement of stopping and starting, she hit her face once on a really small ride, did not seem to bother her but if she done that again i'm dead :hmghost: :hmghost: :hmghost: :scared1: if you know what i mean,SHE'S BEHIND YOU (WITH A CROWBAR) :rotfl2:

Well... do you know where those bits appear? If so, just hold on to her to make sure she can't hurt herself!! :goodvibes

The problem with many rides is you just don't know how your child will react until you get on the ride.
We have taken Josh on Jaws and he loved it, and then took him on 'one-fish two-fish etc' at IOA (which is more suited to a young child)....and he hated it, so you just cannot tell.
Personally if it is a more intense ride I wouldn't take a 5 year old on it - but that's just my opinion.

Test Track isnt too bad I don't think. There is a bit of a jerky bit at the start, but the voice in the car tells you whats going to happen, ie "lets test the brakes", and it drives up to a wall in front of you and slams on, so you know whats coming, and can hold on to her accordingly....its easy enough to do on that ride really.
I found with my 5 year old girl that on some rides she was easily tall enough to get on, but I wasnt comfortable with her being independant on it, for example, on Scorpion, Flying Unicorn, Woddy Woodpecker etc, I had my arm round her to prevent her smaking her head on tight corners.
She basicaly loved anything fast though.

My 5 year daredevil old loved it - my 9 year wimp old hated it

There are 3 seats across on test track (in two rows - 6 seats per car) WE put DD in the middle seat in between us. Although the middle seat only has a lap belt we found this was better as the shoulder belts were too high for her (a bit like sitting in a car without a booster seat!). With her in the middle DH or I put or arm across her to hold her in place. this worked well for us! :thumbsup2
