Does anyone know the highest speed that Test Track goes??? My 9 yr. old son is just curious......Thanks!!!!

:bounce: :yo-yo:

It feels like more because on the banks and the G-forces they put on you... plus you are in an open car with more wind.

It's 65 MPH and it does feel like you are going much faster.::yes:: :wave2:

I think it's 65. It didn't feel all that fast to me, but then again we drive fast on the highways around here.

Yeah, 65. Lats time our speed hit like 66.2 or something. They used to have it going like 60 and raised it to 65... which kinda tells me they can make that ride go a lot faster that 65 if they really wanted it to be.::MickeyMo

I didn't think it felt very fast either, maybe since it was a gradual speed increase.

I read somewhere that it could go much faster (I'm thinking 90mph, but I might be remember wrong) but they decided they shouldn't make it go faster than the speed limit on the highways in Orlando.

This is correct. I'm not sure what the actual top speed is but I think somewhere in the 80-90 range is accurate. They did tone it down to not exceed the local speed limit. Pretty lame IMO considering its supposed to be a thrill ride and is supposed to go fast.

I never realized they could make it go faster. That is pretty lame that they do that.

If they didn't want to make it faster than the I-4 speed limit in Orlando then they need to slow it down 10 mph. The speed limit is 55 here.

Everytime we've been on it, the meter read 64.8. My DH has actually video taped the entire ride for his science class. His students (8th grade) love watching it! I think they just like seeing how many times he almost dropped the camera! ;)

I think wear and tear on the equipment is another reason they keep the speed lower. When they were first testing the ride, the cars chewed through tires at an amazing rate. Lowering the speed and changing the tire compound helped the tires last much longer.

I thought I had read somewhere before TT opened that due to the car's suspension, the lower seating, banking, etc. it's suppose to 'feel' like you're doing 120 mph, even if you're actual speed is 60-65 mph. Though without having driven that fast before, I can't make an accurate comparison. It's still fun feeling the wind hit you as you zoom around the track.

TT was chewing through the tires when it first opened was due to the tires that they were using. They had to switch to a racing slick type of tire and they were running and lasting alot better.

Part of the reason that the speed was reduced to 65 mph was that during testing, one of the test cars (empty, of course), flipped off the tracks. (It didn't have anything to do with local speed limits, etc.)

I'm glad that I read that 3 weeks AFTER I finally got brave enough to finally ride Test Track for the first time, Lou! :)

I can't help wonder if the electronic sign showing your speed is actually just a "prop" put there for show.

I once took my GPS on TT, and while it may not have been accurate either, it showed the maximum speed we hit was less than what was shown on the electronic sign (somewhere in the 50's IIRC).

No problem, IASW Really, the only "dangerous" ride in WDW is it's a small world, and they're rehabbing that now to make it safer anyway :p (hehehehe)

if u look at the screen in certain areas the screen will read out things like tempeture and speed.
